'WO on bridge' doesn't work for me:

get always CTD when reaching the surface [no error message]...

Without that function all is working OK.

h.sie 02-21-11 07:24 AM

@SSB: Ohje! Please give me detailed information. That is important to reproduce the error!

What Supermod did you use?

Which Operating System?

Did you use SingleMission?

What Uboat Type?

What Uboat Equipment?

(I could only test XP/32Bit and Win7/64Bit.)

Could you provide me a screenshot of the CTD screen, showing detailed Module:Offset information?

Thanks for feedback!
h.sie

As I mentioned above: no error message. When the WO is ordered to bridge SH3 completely disappears* without any message...

*exactly like it's cancelled by task manager

**P.s.: same behavior in GWX3.0 and LSH...
--------------

SingleMission

any Uboat type

h.sie 02-21-11 08:24 AM

WHAT single mission did you use (name?)?? This could be important, because I need the same Uboat-equipment loaded as you did.

WinXP Home is 32 Bit, right?

Thanks, SSB, for helping. I'll look into it this evening! In the meantime, just disable this particular fix.

Any others having the same problems?

It would also help to know if it works for others. Thank you!

AFAIK Home is only available in 32bit...

What I found:
the behavior is related to external view.
- When I used external view before diving and resurfacing CTD happens.
- When I don't use external view before diving and resurfacing 'WO on bridge' works fine.

I hope this points you into the right direction... :salute:
___________

P.s.: CameraBehavior.act from 'Supplement' is in use

h.sie 02-21-11 09:21 AM

@SSB: This indeed points me directly to the problem! THANX!

SquareSteelBar 02-21-11 09:23 AM

...same behavior if CameraBehavior.act is disabled :shifty:

h.sie 02-21-11 09:45 AM

It's not related to CameraBehavior.act. It's related to a system call I used to force an immediate screen refresh shortly after the Officers data (name, qualification and so on) has been copied from Compartment to bridge.

h.sie 02-21-11 12:21 PM

Ok, I could reproduce your bug. I didn't notice it during the tests, because I don't use external cam. Hope to fix it soon.

makman94 02-21-11 01:29 PM

hello H.Sie !

you ,finally , managed to 'wake up' the WO !! i really enjoyed it when i saw him ...'awaked' !! but....it ...CTD !!

Same 'problems' with SSB but i want to add that CTDs also happening and when you are not viewing through free cam .
the problem is that CTDs are not happening ALWAYS when you are on scopes's or navmap's pages .sometimes it works ok but other times, without reason, it crashes ....exactly at the time that must move the WO !

tests made at torpedo training mission . repeating periscope depth --surface-periscope depth...etc with some TC from time to time ....and you will see it that it will....crash

ps: i am not using the CameraBehavior.act (if info is usefull)
using win 7 - 64 bit
error message gives no info (for informing you)

bye

@ALL: I need your help!

In order to make sure that the next version of the 1WO fix (that automatically moves the 1WO to the bridge when surfacing) does not contain another bug, I have to check one very important part of the fix on a broad variety of Operating Systems (XP, Win7, Vista, 32 Bit, 64 Bit), Supermods (GWX, NYGM, LSH, WAC), Situations (Single Missions, Campaings, Savegames) and different installed UBoat equipment (with or without Flak, Deckgun and so on) in order to make sure it runs fine in ALL situations.

How can you help?

1) Download the following Mod:

http://www.mediafire.com/?6jwll5q8fm26183

2) Install it via JSGME. It contains a special sh3.exe (useless for playing purposes but very useful for my test).

3) The only important thing for me is: Immediately after loading the mission, the Turm (Watch Tower) must be damaged. No other compartment or equipment may be damaged. No CTD may occur. That's all. The 1WO won't move automatically in this test mod.

4) Try to test as much as possible different situations (different Missions, different Uboats, different weapons, different equipment, different camera views, external cam).

5) Thank you!

(Background: The 1WO may only move to the watch tower, if that compartment is not destroyed. So I have to find and access the watch tower damage. This test will show if my new method to access the damage works in all situations or not. My first method obviously was not good).
