Total Noob to modding

Kriller, looks great and I downloaded it yesterday. Just wondering if this will run with stock 1.4 game. Looking at getting into the more realistic mods even though I've only been subsimming for a week

Hi LtAirforce,
Transperency of the water isn't modified in PE3, but the water is more dark than stock SH4, so it may look less transparent :hmm:

No the only way to change the transparency of the water is by working with the shaders, which we are doing at the moment for the upcoming PE4, you can find info about it here on subsim.

thanks :D , yes the PE3.3 should run fine with SH4 1.4, but there are some files included for SH1.5 you can use if you later upgrade to SH 1.5

No prob kriller. In no way did i mean any disrespect to you, your team, and your work. As with the everybody else, i can't wait for PE4! PC might be a little sluggish though..... oh well!

Hey all

Im using the latest TM version and I am trying to add the PE 3.3 to it.

Im CTD'ing and not sure why. Could anyone take a look at my mods and let me know what im doing wrong. I want to maximize my Mod'ing for the game...

From what I see, it looks like you pick and choose the ones you need for the game...leaving others out which could be duplicates that could cause confilcts.

The above installation looks okay to me, the only thing that sticks out is that you are running 2 special effects mods, you can't use NSM for TM, disable the mod for NSM4 and leave it out. Then enable all of the above mods excluding NSM4.

If you are still having CTD's, I would ask what graphics card you are using or if you are using Vista, there have been some serious problems with VIsta and Geforce 8800... Allso do you have the CTD's imediately you start the game or is it only after a while you are expericing it?

VISTA + 8800 series card + SH4 1.5 + P.E. requires Drivers 177.26 (and probably/possibly also later drivers, but that's not guaranteed.....177.26 drivers Work, for sure). With earlier/other drivers, SH4 1.5 with P.E. Will crash (Blue/Black Screen of Death) with the first torpedo explosion or DD Gun fire...

Thank you much. I like NSM...what can you use it with? I thought NSM was in TM?

Some All Black Ships after installing PE 3_3 2a

Problem: some ships/aircraft in the museum are all black after installation of PE 3_3 Install and PE 3_3 2a (Special Effects for Stock). The crews and some of the gun mounts are textured, the hull is jet black. The ships/aircraft were:

COLORADO BB
BLACK SWAN Sloop
FLOWER PG
SUNDERLAND Patrol Plane
Aredo 196 Recon Plane

My installation of the game is:
I am running the Gold version of the game so I got SH IV v 1.5 straight out of the box. I just did a clean install of the game, following Doolittle's stickied procedure. I had no other mods running. I used JGSME to install PE 3_3. I checked out the museum at three places:
1. Right after SHIV v1.5 installation - ALL ships/aircraft had all their textures.
2. Right after PE 3_3 main install - ALL ships/aircraft had all their textures.
3. Right after PE 3_3 2a install - the listed ships/aircraft above were black

My system specs:
Toshiba Portege
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.5 GHz
2.99 GB Ram
Windows XP tablet Pc edition 2005 version 2002 SP 3
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Graphics Card
drivers are current (at least according to my manufacturer)

Oh yes, I used JGSME to uninstall first PE 3_3 2a and then PE3_3 main: the problems stayed even though the "compare" feature in JGSME showed that there were no changes from my snapshot from the clean SHIV v1.5 install.

Any ideas? I visually checked every object in the museum and only those objects listed at the top of my post appear to have been affected by this issue.

Any help/ideas would be great!

Hi Feld.
This issue sounds like you have a faulty installation, but from your installation list beneath it looks okay to me, that's strange :hmm: Can you post a screenshot of your JSGME ? - that way we maybe can spot if something is conflicting.

Yeah, it sounded like a bad install to me too. That's why I uninstalled and reinstalled before posting. But the textures are there in my stock game. So unless I somehow got a corrupted download of PE3_3 or something, I don't see how it could be a faulty download.

Sadly, I can't post my JSGME. I do remember it however. I did another uninstall-reinstall and I'm not running PE now. I just loaded RFB 1.5 and RSRD so that I could play the game over the weekend and then make it pretty later. The two mods I had loaded when the problem occurred were (in order):

1. PE3_3 Part 1 Main Install
2. PE3_Part 2a (Special Effects for Stock SH4).

Those were the only two mods I had loaded. Like I mentioned above, the problem didn't occur until after I loaded PE 3_3 #2a. De-activating PE 3_3 #2a did not restore the missing textures.

Right mow, I'm just running RFB and RSRD. Actually, some of the models added by RSRD are jet black as well...I was about to go post in the RSRD thread to see if they could help me out. Those models are:

AGM2N aircraft (both versions)
Brewster Buffalo aircraft (both versions)

I'm not asking you to fix an issue with someone else's mod. (just wanted to make that clear). I'm only mentioning this here in case there is something about the way these particular models are textured that can help figure this out.

thanks!

Great Mod :sunny: and if I play with a Submarine everything is fine, but at this time I play with a Battleship Mod and the visibility is finish at 5200 Meter. For a Submarine ok, but with a Battleship is 5200 meter very short distance :o which File I have to change (or work on it) for a visibility from 12000 or 13000 meter. Is it the scene.dat file and what is to change there ? Before I make a mistake, it´s better I ask here your guys

Okay I've searched the thread to no avail...confused about the install order-I use RFB for 1.5 and on their thread it says to enable environmental mods BEFORE RFB, but here it says to enable AFTER RFB....which one is correct??

PE 4

Mr. Kriller2,

I just downloaded your PE 4 today. Does it incorporate PE 1,2,and 3 all in one or do I have to load the other mods too? And what is this sound mod I keep hearing about with better sound for the guns, depth charges, etc?;)

No, you just need PE4, it is the latest version, the link for the sound mod you are referring to should also be in the PE 4 Thread.

Edit (from that thread): ROW sound mod vers. 9 (please read the manual if you are using TM or OM)
