My son likewise, but I never thought of naming them...:hmmm:
I realise now why I don't come down here so often... |
Shtuff rolls downhill...
And something has to catch it. That makes the Bilge the most important part of any ship.

I have met my share of steaming piles that have a name during the six decades I've tread this rock. I'd bet the farm that you have too. I do believe that someone once named one Bono.:haha: |
You do spend far more time in the head than is good for you, Wolferz :yep:

I've had it with y'all.......I am running this ship now. I want it in tip top shape. I want Wolferz removed from the head, even if by force. I want it remodeled and things so clean Neal would be happy to eat in it.
We will have no weapons, so I want some ram installed on the front. Our guns don't work so I got us all slingshots. When i call battle stations, we will all go topside, sling shots firing and ram the enemy. |
?Where?

http://www.ancient.eu/uploads/images...g?v=1431030817http://trireme.gr/images/trireme/thumbs/trireme34.jpgWell I've got it all covered- I ain't COB fer nuthin': we go Trireme style And mount an Archimedean catapault (Huge slingshot ArmiBBY) on the deck I got dibs on the Thranites rowing position otherwise known as a "stool-rower" :shucks: on the upper deck https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...cut-fr.svg.pngin 'honor' of my so-called 'named offspring':-? The 'cat' can throw a 500 lb stone...for close work we'll go ballista https://www.cs.drexel.edu/~crorres/b...e/catapult.JPGWe'll recruit new bilgerats for the lower deck rowing positions- about 150 for daylong outings up to 300 Kilometers at a comfortable 7+ knots! http://www.hexapolis.com/wp-content/...atapults_1.jpghttp://www.ageofempires.com/blog/?p=12331 Swamp can beat rhythm to keep everything in three decks of rowing tempo'd and our Padre, Tango can pour libations:up: to Neptune(aka Poseidon as it's all Greek to Armistead anyway:huh:) for our safety while on the Wine Dark Sea. :hmmm: |
Huh?
What? No, I'm not coming out. You're just going to have to hold it until your eyes turn yellow.:o |

Napalm in it's infancy
Your in charge of the rock pile for the catapault; But bring an old fire hose!:Kaleun_Thumbs_Up: If you can mix up a little greek fire for wolferz's clay pisspots, we'll add caltrops and really get messy! Clay grenades that were filled with Greek fire, surrounded by caltrops, 10th–12th centuryhttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...des_Chania.jpghttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped..._and_Byrne.jpggreekfire nozzle (pics enlarge) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_fire:Kaleun_Salivating:

Behind you all the way bby
:DI'll just stand way back here with my water wings at the ready.:yep:.
You going to call this The Hunley maneuver? |
You're still the captain. Since rowing is with half the crew at 7 knots changing out rowers periodically to maintain speed and leading the tempo inducing rowing songs is critical! When ramming at full speed: 15 knots!!!!; EVERY ONE's ON the oar and switching to reverse in unison after impact is crucial. Also: your in charge of all the vinegar-soaked ox-hides on the upper decks/sides to keep any opponents from Greek Fire'g US! Should be fun;:sunny: we can work on our tans and Tango's vitamin D deficiency will improve. We were getting a awfully pasty (sorry Donna) crankin' that Hunley on a splintery sweat and piss soaked wooden seat.:/\\!!

As you were then.:salute:

Trireme's name and the screw principle
The name of our new vessel, built primarily of pine for lightness and nimble handlin' is U-REEKHA after the inventor of our main Catapult Archimedes (and the Bilge's pervasive stench:nope:) who tore through the streets of Syracuse stark nekkid yelling that word (Eureka) a Bilgerat at heart IMHO!:yep: Throw in a little Pi and the only screw we'll really need to keep our new scow afloat with pumpwise; (pine leaks:O:): https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...ated_small.gifArchimedes' screw pump :stare: and we should be good to go. Nuthin' good goes outta style...after 2250 years BBY! https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...ns_cropped.jpg <SS Archimedes was a ship built in Britain in 1839. She is notable for being the world's first steamship to be driven by a screw propeller.:yeah: :arrgh!:
