Hey guys, just wanted to say thanx to all the modders, for all the hard work that they do. Their contributions make the game so enjoyable i cant finish a career without downloading something new.
Anyways thanx again guys.

That would mean less or no choices depending on how it was done if you know what I mean?!

And if you put all together for one simple download it would take us 3 hours to upload it each time a change was made to the work and that isn't fun.

And if you do an install type deal we would be in the same boat as the GWX crew that did the work on SHIII. The entire game would have to be uninstalled to get rid of the mod if you don't like it. And seeing patch 1.4 is probably on the way we also need to wait and see what is going to change there as well.

I personally don't mind dl'ing individual files as long as it takes a load off the guys working the mods. I appreciate you guy's time... hell I wish I had the time to devote to both III and IV that these guys have.

I have both versions and love them equally. III has come a long way, I've had it since release - and IV is getting better all the time.

Thanks Mod GUYS!!

Bumping up the gamma a few notches made it look awesome, but then the control room looked all washed out.

The sun and moon were gorgeous!

What kind of screen do you use to play SH4 with ROW a LCD or CRT? - try up the brightness on you monitor, maybe there is a reset function on the monitor to adjust the monitor to factory defaults / best brightness versus quality.

Kriller2:

My monitor is an LCD monitor and it is calibrated for photo editing. But that's besides the point. This is the only version of the reflex files that show this oddity, and it's definitely onlt the outside view, because the command room lighting is still fine.

I wonder what could've happened?

Bill

I agree with Leo here. The individual mod download for the entire package is the way to go. With JSGME it is so easy to enable them. For instance, Leo was able to offer the super duper sea foam mod for those that can run it. There is the reqular sea foam mod for guys like me who can not run the the super duper version. Now imagine if Leo said the super duper sea foam mod is part of the whole package and I had no choice? I would be screwed. So based on that, all can get their hands on the great work and download what will run on their computers and leave out what will kill their FPS.

MAN IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER. I better reinstall XP and get my butt back to work on the sound mods, Vista is flat our horrible, I went from 1680x1050 at 35 FPS on XP to 1280x768 at 15FPS on Vista. UPDATE Finally dual booting Vista and XP tak about alot of work.

And this is...alpha? Freaking alpha?! I'm lost for words, you guys. Although I can't enjoy most of the eye-candy on my antiquated rig, it's still a VAST improvement over vanilla game. Hats off to you, gentlemen, and a keg of Guinness from me!

This is my rig's specs, btw. Something for you people with the 8800 graphics cards and Intel Conroes to stop whining about "bad performance on your machines" ;):

Intel P4 Northwood @2.4 GHz, overclocked @2.6 GHz
Radeon 9600 Pro, 256 MB, slightly overclocked
1280 MB RAM

It's a real slide-show when ships are exploding left, right and center, but goes pretty smooth in the open sea (~15-20 FPS...yes, it's enough to at least seem smooth!). Whenever I start the game, I light a smoke simultaneously. When I'm done with my smoke, the game has finished loading. Whenever I approach a coastline, the screen goes black for a while, to the point I think the game has crashed (Alt-Tabbing to desktop seems to speed up recovery). And you guys complain about a small frame drop?:D

I have the incessant urge to paint my computer blue and throw it in the sea sometimes...or give it the Viking funeral! :damn:

ETA: took me three days to read through all 50 pages of this thread, but it was well worth it!

You mean...."Vista is flat out horrible, in my experience having it on my computer."

Not so for many....like me... who get 75fps, no matter the action and find Vista to be more than acceptable ...and very stable, btw

It could be the graphics card 1950xtx and the drivers. I did a fresh install of Vista, I mean I had minimal programs on there really, plenty of HD space and sometimes the game would freeze after I hit F12 in the command room. Ironically if I changed the resolution to something like 1280x768 and then load the game hit F12 go to external view, then change it back to 1680x1050 exit the game and run it again, it would NOT freeze! It is weird. It did not really matter what resolution I was on, because the game for me was unplayable at any widescreen resolution on vista.

It is strange also no matter what Catalyst I use after 7.4 in XP, frame rates just flatout drop and I do not understand why. With this new XP install im getting well over 45FPS. In Vista I tried everything from 7.2 upto 7.10 and no luck thats why I reached my conclusion about the poor performance, I realize it could be my video card. I guess until I get a new card I have to stick with Cat 7.4 XP

To all the guy's on this project and testers

To all the guy's on this project and testers:

I am sorry it is taking me so long to get the new work out to all of you from the screen shot's I have posted.

Because I am reverse enginiering how the game does the sun set and sun rise colors in the game I also have to reverse enginier how the sun's halo also works in the game.

Due to this it is a slow process and in the past few day's alone I have loaded and stoped the game more than 50 times trying to get it right.

I understand everyone's frustration over this slow process but it just can't be helped at the moment.

As soon as I have it ready I will get this out to everyone ASAP. Of course Kriller2, Jaketoox and l3th4l will get it first then out to the testers.

Dave

playtime

Finally. no more excuses for me. I can hunt the japs for a few days. Don't have to worry about updates. Have my machine and the 8800 gts running smoothly (lots of trials and errors) and windows vista gives me no more trouble. Love the mod(s). Please take your time with your mod. Never, never in my career as a computer enthousiast (just build my 6th computer) have i seen a commercial alpha release on such high standards as the TM and ROW mods.

Please, donot rush yourself or apologize for the great work so far. The screenshots just show that there is something to look foreward to (and that is part of the fun)

thanks! Aniuk:up:
