I need a day time view of somthing I am working on right now but I think everyone will be happy with a new effect I am working on. Making a HUGE sinking foam effect for the surface of the ocean when a ship is going down wave's and everything. Looks good so far. Also enhancing the night time fire reflections on the water.

rodan54 10-17-07 06:58 PM

And it just keeps getting better. :o

One thing I've been meaning to ask though. Would it at all be possible to make the 'flat' ocean textures (oil slicks, impact/sinking foam, etc.) actually 3d, in that they actually 'ride' the waves like the torpedo/ship wakes currently do?

leovampire 10-17-07 07:02 PM

I don't know but at the moment I want to try to work with what I have going on

It's getting hard enough to keep track of what I am doing at the moment. From the sounds of what your saying some of the same node's that are already in the ship and sub file's would have to be added to the oil slik's and stuff then made to work the same way.

Lot's of work and testing.

leovampire 10-17-07 07:38 PM

What would you guys say if I could give you totaly differn't color's

For both sun rises and set's?

More yellow's and oranges for the rises and more Red's and Oranges for the setting's of the sun?!

Jaketoox found some new sun coloring controls for the sun both in rises and sets and in differn't cloud and weather conditions.

So between him and I we are working on making is all a lot better in game and get rid of that nasty reflection and color work for the strom sea's was actualy a dull dark green color before.

As soon as I have test shots I will post them.

Hiya's,
I have a bad confession to admit to all here :(

It's taken me some time to mull over in my mind how best to explain or to make it easier on

A: Myself and

B: Yourselves

I think i best openly explain to all that post here so maybe i can seek professional help or maybe someone here free of charge could council me

Well it all started when i tried a certain sim and that held me in stead to turn into the swine i now am, I have no excuses i openly got into needing a fix to steady my nerves and moved onto the higher/harder graded version 4 (addictive is not the word now there's all the powerful mods)

Ok i chose maybe not the hardest addiction known to man but the addictiveness of it and the toll it takes on oneself and your loved ones can be immense if not watched carefully

I stand err erm rather type in front of you I AM ADDICTED to SH4 with Added Mods :D

Also alas i have another addiction :( I call the "CTRL + F11" addiction :(

Below you will see this addiction, I just can't fight the ctrl/f11 urge grrrrrrrrrr
No matter what i try it's too strong a habit now and i don't think i will ever be free of the dreaded curse of screenshotting :D lol

Damn these mods all you skillful guys (maybe gals too??) make/create it just adds more to my addiction lol

Seriously i love this sim now, And with every new creation by selfless others who have given up many many hours of their time to create such a beautiful sim i am pleased i have this addiction :)

ps: Think i need another HD just for pics (serious !!)

Many Thanks All

Happy Diving

Have Fun

ROW caused the loss of Manila !!

Follow-up report to my previous story about how ROW saved my boat (see post # 792 above). It now appears that ROW has been responsible for the loss of Manila to the Japanese :nope:

Late afternoon, December 9, 1941. USS Pantherfish was patrolling the Luzon Straits, proceeding surfaced but preparing to dive before dusk to reduce the chances of being surprised by Japanese aircraft in the unfavorable lighting conditions. Before diving, I decided to head to the bridge to take in another magnificent ROW sunset:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y96...etoffLuzon.jpg

It wasn't until several days later, after I'd made that screenshot into my new Windows wallpaper for my PC, that I realized that my crew and I had spent so much time admiring the ROW effects and taking pictures of the setting sun that we had completely missed the fact that the smoke from the huge Japanese invasion force steaming for Luzon was barely visible off in the distance:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y96...on-TFSmoke.jpg

If only we hadn't been so dazzled by ROW, we could have intercepted that task force and perhaps sunk or crippled some juicy troop transports or capital ships. At a minimum, we would have been able to send a radio report warning our ground troops of the impending danger and alerting our remaining air forces who might have been able to repel the initial landings. Instead, the unopposed landings of these initial troops the next day led directly, and in short order, to the fall of Manila. Curse you ROW!

I know it is hard to wait sometimes but at least you have a large portion of the work even if it isn't finished yet and fine tuned.

But there is a lot going on with the mod and so many new things we are trying so we can go totaly beyond what anyone thought was possable with the game. And seeing there are so many things we have found reciently to control eliments of the sky and reflections we need to learn how it all works so when we release all of the new stuff it is right and not have the problems we did for the Alpha release.

At least we did an Alpha release and didn't keep everyone waiting longer.

Just has to be better each time we put the stuff out or it isn't worth it in the long run having to wait in the first place.

Hey, Leo, since my halo is working for some reason and I'm really liking the affect, we do I get the new goodies to test:D
