Thanks a bunch for releasing a light version in your next release!

I don't see how only that line will give you 'a number of decimal places'. The way I see it is it helps to gauge whether it is a halve mark or a quarter one, without having to turn the scope. That's a reasonable division, not? But it's ok if you do not include it. We're pampered with your mod anyway.

OK, so I exaggerated. :p

If the "reason" I gave doesn't agree with you, you can instead choose my laziness (I won't be using that line myself) or my love of consistency (I don't like the idea of a horizontal line without a corresponding vertical one for getting the AOB) or my personal taste (it's ugly) or you can even think of it as one of those things in life that just don't make any sense at all. Like I said, I'll never please everyone. I've just got to stick to the notion that - for the most part - this is something I've made for myself, in the way I think best.

Now if you'll excuse me, it's valentine's day (a big con if you ask me) and I'm going to be late for dinner with my girl, who no doubt will also hit me with a bunch of complaints.

And what part of the mod is she unhappy with? Don't tell us it's the lack of readout for target speed when you play with auto-targeting:88)

Yes!
And congratulations on making it to the "sticky"

onelifecrisis 02-14-08 08:22 PM

Woohoo! I don't think I ever got a thread made sticky in a forum before.

I wonder which moderator did it? :hmm:

lol

I think the part of the mod which causes the Kaleun to arrive late and sans flowers was the main cause for concern. :-?

Luckily a few smooth lines of code seem to have fixed it. :hmm:

Congratz OLC!!!

Sticky is not an easy task, but u deserve it, your mod is beyond any contestation!

I've tested it myself and i love it!

The only reason im not using your mod in the moment is coz its not compatible with uboat 1.2... i like the overall layout and other stuff related to the uboat in that other mod... but your mod is priceless, both periscopes and tools are a masterpiece!

Once your mod and uboat are compatible the first thing i'll do is install both!

I know, and I respect that.

First, thanks for creating this manual targeting interface. I’m pretty much new to manual targeting and this makes it much faster and simpler than stock ShIII/GWX. I am averaging hits 80-90% of the time with most of my mistakes made due to errors inputting the data into the TDC. (I tend to almost always set up at a near 90-degree AOB, under 1000 meters, and shoot from a stationary position…that probably all helps).

Although the interface works great for prepared attacks against lone merchants, I have been very reluctant to try my luck in fast improvisational engagements like convoy attacks or defense against ASW vessels.

Does anyone have any advice or guidelines for quick and hasty shots using the OLC interface?

I’m especially looking for help in defending against DDs. I’m in a IXB boat now and evasion is a lot harder during convoy attacks than it was in a VIIB. It seems like my best chance of survival often is a magnetic torp shot from my stern while being pursued. Even a good ‘Hail Mary’ is probably better than trying to get good depth fast in an IXB. But, once the pressure is on, its almost impossible to determine target speed, AOB, and range using the normal manual targeting methods.

I like the acoustic following fish when having to go up against ASW...

It helps account for my haste.

Well I don't want to sound like your mother, but you really ought not to be picking fights with DD's. Fire your torps on the convoy and dive like crazy - don't wait for the explosions. If you like watching the explosions, turn on the event cam or something, but I really strongly advise you not to watch them through the scope.

I don't have a problem getting deep in an IX before the DD's arrive.

My 2p. :)

Any word on that, OLC?

Um... you mean on the compatibility with U-boat 1.2?

Sorry if asked before but, is there a flag drop down somewhere ?

I think I have clicked all the features and I can't imagine it not being included.

In the obs scope and binoculars there's a "Flaggen" thing in the top-right corner - just hover your mouse over it. There isn't one on the attack scope or UZO, but in those screens you can use the cover of the recognition manual if you like.
