Are you doing a keyboard command "Hard to Port/Hard to Starboard/Rudder Amidships" keystroke when your getting this "rudder....rudder" phrase?? Maybe this is a different animal than using the Rudder Dial on the HUD interface?! |

I may have figured out why my dual-core computer wouldn't hardly run FotRS Ultimate, and that's because some dum-dum (wants gum-gum) set the game's screen resolution so dad-blame high... I think I was trying to see when the computer would be brought to its knees (that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it). Well, it was... |

As I've mentioned in times past when this problem occurs in FOTRS v1.3 it always seemed to involve a very large number ships. So many that the game engine seems to go haywire. Last night's problem seem to develop after my encounter with those three Asashio class DDs I spotted. I'm gonna give Florida sailor a call in a little while and ask him if there is any advice he can give on how to proceed. :hmm2: |

I have just tried hitting the rudder amidships key in three different mod setups 100 FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v.1Beta_EN 100 FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v.1Beta_EN plus TMO Keys 100 FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v.1Beta_EN plus Propbeanies latest sound files In every case, when I hit the rudder amidships key thay said 'Rudder' once, and once only. They did not duplicate the rudder command, nor did they add zero after it Goddammit - am I eating soup again :D EDIT - anyone else want to give this a go??? |
just had yet another change of mind regarding the merchant skins
Seeing as how I liked the blue/grey scheme so much, i thought - what if that scheme had a dazzle pattern? Results are promising http://i.imgur.com/avxA8br.jpg http://i.imgur.com/8jttDJg.jpg http://i.imgur.com/B8aZKYV.jpg I like these too much not to use them It will mean going back and adding two extra skins to each ship I have done, and editing the roster files accordingly, but this colour scheme looks too good to pass up :D |
EDIT
Have just done three ships like this Expect a new release - will be the same as the last release but with two added blue/dazzles added in to the mix for every ship I have done so far Means that every replenishment ship, tanker, troop transport and about six freighters will have 10 skins that come into play as the war goes on Should be ready by the end of this weekend :salute: |
Oh my! FOTRS Ultimate! The mod so configurable, so customizable that there's no need to actually play SH4!
And now we have ships that customize themselves throughout the war. Why would we play any other way?:D:D:D |

I spent one half of my day correcting errors from last night, and the other half noodling on the other computer trying to get things to run better. I think I'm going to do me another "restore" of SH4 on the dual-core machine. It's a 2gHz intel core 2 duo running an 800 MHz buss, maxed-out at 2gig of RAM, with an AGP AIW 9600XT, and it can NOT run Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate. It did FotRSv2 just fine in SH4 v1.4, and FotRSv1.3 in SH1.5, so why can't I get Ultimate going on it? It's a dual-boot machine, and it won't run in either OS... I'm thinking I've got me some mod soup of the stale variety on it, I'm hoping. This computer I'm on now is just a pinch newer than the core 2 duo, running at 2.4gHz quad core with 8gig of RAM, and doesn't hardly break a sweat...
Max-peck, skins are excellent. They are ~fine~, them ships is perty! cdsubron7, since I did the "new" install of the beta on this quad-core, I've not had any repeats of command acknowledgements - that I'm aware of. |

You're an artist Max, your idea is brilliant and professionally executed. These ships are just... wonderful. Thanks mate! Have patience to see how they sink... Hehehe... [sardonic/satanic smile]:03: Cheers, Billy. |
As for the sinking time... Well, I just played one of my old SM test missions, updated to the FotRS Ultimate ships, and they take a while to go down. I think I'm going to have to start doing video for each test round, so that I can see what happened. I used to be able to save the replay, but when you die, and you haven't saved yet, you're dead... lol - Anyway, the scenario has got two split freighters and two old tankers, with a couple of those dirty dog DD escorts. Now, I'm thinking that AOTD Max bumped up something in the AI, 'cause I can't get away from the escorts in my own SM... I got two hits on one freighter, and down she went; one hit on one loaded tanker, big explosion and fire, but didn't go down. Two hits on the other freighter, resulting in a bad list, but still there, bow slightly awash. Other tanker is still enroute to destination, unscathed. Now, the tanker I hit, I finally put it away with two more hits, but I had to weasel my way away from the escorts to get back in position. They returned the favor, and sank me. Going by the time that's passed, I'd say the tanker would not have sunk. I also doubt if the other freighter would have sunk, since it was stable the whole time - about 45" worth. Granted, I may not have had good hits on those two, but in stock, they'd have all four have been gone, and quicker than what I got rid of just the two. The DDs are definitely a bit too nimble though, able to do 0-24 knots in the time it takes a MK14 to go 706 yards, with lots of "lead" given. Didn't turn any, just took off, and all 3 shots went behind... The ships are so good looking, ya just wanna sink 'em ALL!
Now, I did get some slightly different voicing this go-round. If I used the " ' " apostrophe to center the rudder, I'd get the chief saying "Rudder, zero" and the helmsman acknowledging with "Rudder, zero degrees..." with that "phhh" sound, like something was supposed to play. If I was at say 24 degrees to port, and went to 32 with a mouse click, I would then get "Rudder, 32 degrees to port" and the helmsman "Rudder, 32 degrees to port". If I then centered from there with a mouse click, and I stayed on the "left" side of zero, but close to it, I would get the chief going "Rudder, zero", but the helmsman would go "Rudder, zero degrees to port". If I'm at that same 32 degrees to port, and I center with the mouse click, but get a pinch to the "right" of the zero, the chief would say "Rudder, zero", and the helmsman would say "Rudder, zero degrees to starboard"... I don't think I'm accurate enough with a mouse to hit it to where the helmsman would say "Rudder, zero degrees..." There was something else with the voice commands or repeats, but I've now forgotten it, after having taken ashcan damage to the brain... |

Then I loaded up Razzle Dazzle and wouldn't want to live without it! Lots of people can work their way around Photoshop. You have a good eye and that can't really be taught. These ships are MAGNIFICENT! |
Been working on the sound files.
As already reported, the Rudder Dial provides a speech phrase "Rudder Zero" when striking the rudder amidships position. On the other hand, the Keyboard "Rudder Amidships" key (') gives you just "Rudder" on the key stroke. I can see why......I'm working on putting in the phrase "Rudder Amidships". Had to make a new speech phrase, there isn't a "Rudder Amidships" phrase in the game. I'll be testing it....should work when the key is struck. It will not interfere with the Rudder Dial way of reporting "Rudder Zero" when moving the rudder to the amidships position. I can't do anything about that. |
