"Navy Week 1986" - Sydney Harbour.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q05ErsQv9h8
A 40+ mins documentary. Lots of footage of Famous ships in action, peacetime and war. Shoreleave. All the "nice" girls love a sailor $$$$$$$$$$$$$. I remember it well. They reckon the Bicentennial in 1988 was bigger. No way, Navy Week was HUGE. I've never seen so many drunk sailors/Marines in my life:o You literally had to step over them from one end of the Cross to the other. Good to see Sir David Martin. Died from Cancer not too long after this was made. A real man, worked up till his dying day. Anyway I hope you enjoy it. Friends and Allies. |

I had been aware that the RN had planned on using the Mosquito from aircraft carriers but never really knew what the purpose of them would have been. And the man behind the controls was of course Capt. Eric 'Winkle' Brown RN, who flew every aircraft in the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force during WW2 as well as many captured enemy aircraft including the Me-262 and the He-162. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Brown_(pilot) |
