Topic: "Dear Ubisoft: Yes or No, Is the Silent Hunter series still supported by Ubisoft?"

Response from Ms-Mkleaneasy (Ubi forum manager):

"@ All – I’ve raised the question and my boss is contacting EMEA to see what the situation is although he has warned me with E3 we may not get a prompt response. As frustrating as it is I can only ask you bear with me, and if we’ve still nothing this time next week I’ll make some more noise http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif"

Why? All that statement implies is that Ubisoft will be too busy pimping their new crap in LA over the next few days to reply to their customers. A convenient, and somewhat lame, excuse (should we believe that all decision making at Ubisoft comes to a halt because of a three day gaming convention? Especially when this is hardly an out-of-the-blue question they've been asked) and no more helpful than the silent treatment they've been giving since release. Now they really do take us for fools. The Germans will filter the information to the rest of us first, as always...

FYI, games list for E3 here... http://e3.gamespot.com/games.html . 726 games and not one Silent Hunter, LOL!

Because Hell, that is about the best thing we got right now.
I just thought there might be a small chance that the guy could a least get an official answer as to weather or not they will be another patch for SHV. Which is what everyone here wants to know, right?

Sure, if you don't belive it will amount to anything, (and maybe it wont) then you dont need to follow the thread do you? No one is forcing you.
.....And I dont think anyone is seriously expecting SH6 at E3 are they? :haha:

SH6 on E3? Maybe next year - as a console naval shooter. :rotfl2:

I think it's probably the end of the series.

The worse is this is a very bad end of Silent Hunter franchise in UBI Soft's colors.

I wouldn't say they'gone. Remember that simulators' "lifespan" is far more longer than any other type of game. You've got Lock-on with Flaming Cliffs, FSX with great Accusim addons, Orbiter, Rise of Flight, upcoming BoB:Storm of War, DCS Ka-50(which is like...WOW!) with upcoming A-10 addon, Wing of Prey (shooter but very nice), upcoming Longbow exhumation :) ...some of them, like lock on are quite old, but lots of ppl still don't have rig that can run those sims smoothly (FSX :P). I can see some sort of reborn in simulators. To me it looks like sim's Golden Age. Devs are fascinated with todays possibilities. Sims have never been so sofisticated, polished, detailed and convincing as today. Excluding SH5 of course.

Simming isnt dead but its no where near as popular as it was a decade ago.
Low demand = low budget.
I disagree that FPS game are becoming rare though, many are still released every year and there are some well established franchises that are here to stay.
Thats said most single player FPS games are dumbed down and no where near as fun as they used to be.
Deus Ex was 10 years ago and IMHO it has yet to be beaten.
