20km version

Yes indeedy!! Looking awesome!! I have a good 20km horizon, no flat sun and great water environment and no video glitches.

Job well done Rik007!!:yeah:

:salute:

I tried both the 16k and 20k atmosphere versions of .9 and the water looks excellent, but for some reason it ends after a 5 by 5 k square with my viewpoint always at the center. From the tower, this isnt a problem at all. but when I use external camera to get pictures, the water beyond the square is replaced by a generic gray or land, and it looks very ugly.
This was not a problem with standard GWX3, where the water would be present all the way to the horizon in a good detail.
Is there an in game setting I may have missed, or is this an inherent characteristic of this mod? Can it be fixed?
Without it I can not take nice shots or very much enjoy the view from the sky.
Example of standerd water.

To put it simple: More detailed distance implies that the squary nature of the game engine is amplified. I didnot design it with an outside view objective as number one priority, so just do not stare at it and you will be fine.

Perhaps.

I have a high-end system with the graphic setting set at optimum and I pretty much have the same thing you are experiencing (I use the 20km version). For me, this isn't a big deal. I can tolerate these types of "flaws". Trying to be a realist (or as realistic as I can be) within the sim is fun in itself, however, I do like to wander about looking at certain scenes from a seagulls point of view and not a high altitude bombers'...:06:

The very thing I admire and enjoy the most with the SH5 water mod is the realistic colors of the water and sky in all weather conditions. The water movement itself in high winds in the North Atlantic is a good trade off for the short-comings of the other so-called graphic "flaws". Usually, if I am in a newer boat on the onset of a new career, I will keep the external camera on. After the 1st or 2nd patrol I turn it off and simulate the actual views from the conning tower, etc. Therefore, the problems you mentioned do not matter. But that's me. Not saying you should do that too. So, it is kind of a trade-off.;)

I'm still getting the flickering sky bug with the 20km 0.9v mod. I've tried the 16km 0.9v mod, and that works fine.

Any help to get it working would be appreciated.

I think the kriegsmarine efforts would have been pretty useless if the world were to be eaten by a black hole :dead:

This only happens when I enable this mod, 20km version. I'm also using MEP v3, but jsgme says there are no conflicts. Still, I tried disabling MEP first and still ended up with the same result, world being sucked into oblivion. Maybe an issue with my vid card? ati radeon 4890...

Any ideas? I discovered SH3 about a month ago, thought it was great vanilla. Then I discovered the mod community... :o ... Needless to say, I've been quite hooked. Seriously, you guys have taken a great game and turned it into something really special. Adding this one to the mix (sans black hole) would definitely add a few more notches to the awesome factor.

MILLANDSON 05-04-10 05:12 PM

KPN: That's the same problem I'm having with the most recent 20km 0.9v mod, even with no other mods running at the same time. The 16km version works fine, however.

problem

I had the same problem awhile back. Fixed it. Can't remember what I did...:damn:

Oh yeah...

go to this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=160867

If using SH3 Commander. Make sure you roll back before any new mods. I have mine set to roll back every time I go off the sim.

KpnKardif 05-04-10 05:40 PM

Well I'll be a monkey's 2nd cousin... rolling back sh3 commander fixed it, never woulda thought of that. Thnx, Comet! :yeah:

MILLANDSON, try disabling the mod and rolling back sh3 commander, then enabling the mod (20k version) again.

BTW, this mod is freakin' awesome

MILLANDSON 05-04-10 06:03 PM

I'm not near my PC at the moment (away at my parents until Thursday), so I'll try it out when I get back.

Sailor Steve 05-05-10 09:35 PM

I finally have my computer set up again and added this mod to my mix.

Striking and beautiful! It's part of my permanent setup now!

I've just added this myself two patrols ago, and I :yeah: with you. It's part of my permanent mod pack too!

Now and then during heavy seas, wave tops in the distance do an odd 'curly' thing but I can overlook that compared to everything else. :)

Yep, worked a treat. Thanks!

tomfon 05-27-10 05:52 PM

Has anyone tried to enable the mod on top of OLC's environmental mod?

Royale-Adio 06-08-10 01:47 PM

You should now try to make this for SH4. Would be great!

jaxa 06-08-10 02:19 PM

I like this mod very much, especially water, but in my opinion sky in stormy weather is too bright. It's easy to notice this during single mission "Bismarck" and compare it to MEPv3 or OLC. Is it possible to make the sky darker, like in real storm?
