Yep looks pretty good and it answers a number of questions that have been asked here. I

t's funny though I've got mixed feelings about what I've seen. Yes there are some great lighting effects and the water is looking way better than SH4, but for me some of the effects like the water on the lens detracts from the feeling of being there.

If I was standing in the rain I would not see water droplets unless I walked around with a pane of glass in front of my face. I hope that is an optional view as I don't want that screwing up my screenshots.

I see the algae (green crap), in the underwater shots is still there along with the wavy underwater view, neither of which I liked in SH4.

I also wonder what the little white crosshair in the FP view inside the sub is about. (Where is my weapon select button so I can shoot Bernard?):)

On the plus side it does look like the ships and U-Boat move a little more realistically in the water compared to stock SH4 and the dynamic shadows and light/particle effects look great. It is looking like a pretty good advancement of SH4's graphics engine.

Exactly.

Neither did I. Even movies shot underwater don't look like that.

Agreed - overall it looks fantastic so far.

...but still I would like to have seen a really rough sea in action, in that vid!

*edit - just read somewhere, that blizzards are added...is there any footage of this?

It is a pity that there is no crew on a conning tower ...

But in this film well see that would be so hard to walk between the compartments when large wave (pitching)...

@Sober

Some nice shots captured :)

I think the landscape details made a very big step forward!
Much more forrest, more view distance and a better shape of the landscape.
Looks kinda more real than in previous SH games.

The lighthouse somehow I donīt like... flakmonkeys is much nicer.
Also the lighthous flare was made better in Sh3 I think.

The strange looking top of this lighthouse is caused by some flipped polys, maybe ? :hmm2:

That is one impressive movie, if they can get the lightrays to interact with the clouds it can be really nice. However they have made the sun and the moon a bit too large, in reality they are really small so usually you have to enlarge them, but this was to much.

Moddable, thankfully. ;)

Brings up a question...

Will we see the crew change their clothes for different weather conditions and climates? The guy in the shorts is suited for what looks like an Italian/African/Meditteranian climate but it's going to look stupid If he's out there during a snow storm near Norway or Antartica wearing those same shorts... :hmmm:

Maby it depends on campaign?

Sky999 12-11-09 09:08 AM

Well in all the other games we have been free to go wherever we like, so it shouldn't depend on a campaign.

It also couldn't depend on the campaign because Norway, France and Britain would be in the same campaign.

Maybe they just change clothes on where you are. That would be cool !
