Nice sounds Boris, I was a fire direction officer of a 155mm platoon in XVIII ABN Corps in 1st Gulf War. These naval 'rifles' are a different animal than artillery - direct fire vs indirect fire, but the sounds are pretty much the same. The Iraqis actually had better 155s than we did (G5 vs our M198s) They had longer range and smaller CEp (circular error) = more accurate guns, but their fire direction sucked - i.e. even with better guns, they couldn't bring accurate fire on us. They generally missed by a couple hundred meters (short) while exciting for us, that doesn't generate any effects on target. If our rounds were more than 50m off target, that was basically a "miss" unless you're talking ICM with many submunitions scattered over a couple of hundred meters.
What would add a lot to believability is seeing a distant explosion, with a second or two delay before hearing it. I know this has been mentioned previously. Also, the sounds should have that bass, man. It ratttles your guts from the ranges these deck guns would have fired from. Truth is, a good explosion or firing sound at any high volume level, and all of our speakers would themselves explode! :rotfl: :rotfl: Is it march yet? Best regards, Mylander |
Cool story Mylander.
I was in the Army for a bit, and even smaller munitions such as the 66mm rocketlaunchers I fired had quite a bang to them. And the claymores really rattle your guts too. I think I'll be modding some sounds when this thing comes out... I'll be modding alot of things :D |
I am very much looking forward to it!
