Why are people stockpiling toilet paper?

^ There is no real answer to why people stock tp.. calling this "irrational" is very polite. Those pictures are just unbelievable. How can people be so.. :nope:

@Rockstar 'My Corona', great adaption :D

I feel that people do it because they are scared and feel that they have little control over what is happening. Buying stuff like TP and milk can help people feel that at least they are doing something, which can give them a sense of having some control.

Different people "stock up" on different things. TP, because of the large packaging, is easy to notice.

Wasnt til the 30's toilet paper had a mass appeal. Before that people were content with yesterdays newspaper or leaves. But I suppose we can thank "locust capitalism" and mass media drilling into our skulls day after day what we cant live without it.

This is nothing new.

In the end of the 90's Danish people started to hoard yeast for unknown reason.

The country was suffering a national strike.

From an old article in a Danish news paper

"Back in 1998, Denmark lay completely still for 11 days. The stores could not get goods run out, the newspapers did not come out, and the Danes stocked food and gasoline like never before.

The yeast crisis, as the conflict has been dubbed because the Danes began to demand extremely high demand for baked yeast for unreasonable reasons, lasted from April 25 to May 6"

Throughout the years thereafter psychologist had tried to find an explanation this this behaviour.

I used my Office Depot rewards on toilet paper before toilet paper became a "thing". I think a Scott 1000 sheet roll lasts me about a month.

Lowes was selling one single roll per customer today so I bought my cousin one. She's a REAL hoarder, but she only hoards clothing and furniture. LMAO She has tiny pathways in her house from room to room, it's kind of like walking in canyons and you don't want to accidentally brush the canyons walls for fear of a collapse. :har:

If she searched through the pile she might find a fortune in toilet paper!! :yep:

My mother is a hoarder. It is only funny on the surface. It is rough mental illness. But her house is just like you described except there are a few rooms where you can't even get into.

She should start using the clothing for TP instead, and then bagging it. The garbage collector might not agree though. :o

She has abandoned her house to her addiction and sleeps in her car instead.

No, the officer was apparently just waiting to buy some. I purposely edited the video to make it look like he was standing guard over it. ;)
