Pics are great, Jim, I thought you said all the flying ones weren't? :hmmm:

Thanks mate but I would have to disagree, about 80% have been deleted and those I'm posting have been subject to jiggery pokery :)

Those are my favorite ones yet.

I bet that was the best sounding demonstration. :woot: :woot:

Not bad and full of nostalgia but nothing beats the sound of a Vulcan or a Frightening on take off.

I haven't heard either one.

Right now, I think for prop planes the P-51 takes the cake. I've heard them fly. Even on videos they sound awesome.

For jets, the F-18 or the A-10. I really want to see the Vulcan fly though.

I should look for a video of it on Youtube.

This year is possibly her last year of flight:

If it sets off car alarms...it has to be super loud. That's a great sounding aircraft.

I wish we could have bigger air shows....

Don't we all...but in these days of financial austerity, budgets are being cut all the time and good PR comes at too high a price unfortunately.

Sadly yes...One of the senior members in my Civil Air Patrol Squadron went to all the planning meetings for the Air Show. They originally planned a lot of stuff...but more cuts made it smaller and ticket prices higher.

The last Air Show they did a while back is one I'll never forget. That was awesome. I have autographs of the Blue Angels and the A-10 Demo Pilot...This year, I added the autograph of the MiG-17F pilot.

Here soon, there is going to be a small "Salute to the Veterans" thing at the Southern Illinois University Airport. It's a bit of a drive...but I want to see the B-29...B-24...etc.

They're bringing out all these classic planes...and if I go to the Aviation Open House I get a free ride in a DC-3!! :yeah:

Can't wait!

The Arrows are certainly not quiet on the roll too, I remember them taking off at Biggin, years ago, I was quite close to the flight-line and man did they shriek.

The Tiffie really caught me by surprise, I'd never seen one in action before and the way she was thrown around the sky, well it made me and Nagy/Keab completely re-evaluate the rather low opinion we had of her (due to the bungled way her program was handled), she may have taken her time to get here, but it was certainly worth it.

RO, the Frightening will probably never fly in the UK again, but they do do fast taxi runs which give you an idea of what those pocket rocket engines can do:

And for Jim and Herr B, some nostalgia:
