Are you sure Real Underwater Environment is compatible with MEP? I get conflicts when I try to install that over MEP in JSGME. That mod has a 16km environment, this one I think has 20km. Please note I also use anti aliasing, by shift + pg up by one level.

EDIT:

I was tinkering around with the anti aliasing settings when I noticed that if I do not enable AA by shift + pg the sun does not appear in binocular view and is flat/no halo when viewed through the periscope, similar to your last screenshot. In fact, it starts to flicker. I'm not sure if you have AA enabled in your game but try that if it helps.

Could you do another test please?
Try the academy mission - navigation tutorial (first mission)
Please check out if the halo is there on your rig.

It guess it seems kind of situation / weather depending too, earlier i had the halo with binoculars on
my campaign patrol, but now its gone again.

To sort out problems due the additional environment mod i just tried without it and with flatsunfix as well - no halo in binocular in the nav mission here. :nope:

I'm on newest nvidia driver with 4x AA enforced with nvidia inspector.

When i had the halo earlier i sure did not tuched any of the driver settings nor switched on/off blur by shift + pg.
I just spotted you wrothe you have that on, please try without.
With blur AA (shift + pg) i have the halo i guess but will try again later.

please try again with the nav tutorial and give feedback, many thanks in advance.

I get the no halo bug through binoculars/periscope without ingame AA/blur (shift + pg up), however the sun still looks strangely fine w/ a halo from external camera. If I enable AA w/ shift pg up there is a halo through binoculars/periscope. So apparently there's something wrong with ingame blur/aa disabled that affects the halo viewed through periscope and binoculars.

I recommend using only the ingame AA function (shift + pg up) rather than forcing through nvidia inspector in case theres some conflict but if you can now get the halo by shift pg up on top of that then it's good. :cool:

To be honest, I'm not really sure what it's called. But from my perspective it does blur everything in the distance, reducing sharpness on lines particularly around land objects at dock. That's sort of the effect I want without having to go to the nvidia driver panel. Plus without it, I get the halo bug above.

That shot did i just catch with the naval academy mission - didn't changed anything nvidia AA still present - sometimes it just works right.
But same time no luck with the scope => golfball sun.

So getting the halo at all with nvidia AA is sort of tricky perhaps it's video card releated too.

Turning on ingame bloom (shift + pg) leads to disfunktion of nvidia AA.
The halo should be there without bloom, like it is on external view - perhaps something can be done about it.

What does nag me that sometimes it's there at least for binocular for a little while but i cant reproduce.

This would be one of my very little wishes for improving this very nice
and immersive mod, i can't even play with 16km :)

Did you know you can play around with video card setting when tabbing out the game (+pause) and get instant results from testing? I'll play around with setting a little more.

BTW i'd highly volunter for beta testing M.E.P. v4 any chance of a pre-release? :sunny:

Looking forward to the release. I've was playing version 3 with NYGM (I did some tweaking to get it to work... Until I overtweaked and broke it!). I'm looking forward to version 4 and hope there will be a NYGM version. I'm tweaked out. :)

The sun halo problem with nvidia is a very old but well fixed issue. See here:
