Wow :o

How to decrease this photos?

U570 09-22-12 02:19 AM

Do not worry about T class blueprints, I already have some, including cross sections of the hull. But interior arrangements (if anyone can find them) would be beyond brilliant :D

U-SERB 09-22-12 02:21 AM

Ok...

Also, I steel need data about diving time, so if anybody know I would be happy to tell me! :D

Do it the way he says and you risk diving a lot faster and farther than anticipated...:dead:

British tactical doctrine was different from the US subs. They spent most of the time underwater, and only surfaced a few hours at night to recharge batteries. At this moment they were extremely vulnerable due to lack of radars up to 1943 (basically the whole duration of the Mediterranean Campaign).

I cannot provide the data right now, but if I remember it right, I read somewhere that they didn't wait to have all hatches closed to start flooding tanks. As soon as the alarm was sounded, the officer on duty started the immersion procedure. That's why they had to be very fast in the bridge.

In that case, with same procedure, I guess that German type VII need 10 seconds! :arrgh!:

So, how many were lost because they dove with the engine intake vents still open?

JapLance 09-23-12 04:47 AM

Well, I'm not very well versed in the technical aspects. I can't remember where did I get that explanation.

I've found another reference to the diving time of the U-Class. In "War beneath the sea - Submarine conflict 1939-1945", Peter Padfield writes:

Quote:

[...]and they were by far the slowest boats, apart from midgets, used by any navy in the war. They could get under the surface in under 20 seconds, however, faster than any other submarine, and in the war they proved well suited to the confined waters of the Mediterranean.

Well, if Padfield says it, I'm done arguing. He is simply the foremost naval historian anywhere. :sunny:

How's the progress going on this? Would love to see this.

Currently working on a British voice pack for SH4, but if this goes ahead will have to make and SH3 version (still my preferred iteration),

Details for recruitment for the mod here (we need as many aspiring voice actors as possible ;) - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=202396

Incidentally I'm a graphic artist type chap lol, so if you want assistance doing textures, front/menu screens and whatnot I'd be more than happy to help

U570 02-21-13 12:29 AM

Well so far progress has grinded to an almost halt, thanks to RL. However I have managed to make the player British and not be shot at or shoot at other British ships, which was my problem earlier on.
A graphical designer would be brilliant, as I am honestly horrible with photoshop . If you PM me your email, then I can send the pictures I've been using for the 'Flotilla' screen where you choose which flotilla you wish to be in.
Cheerio lads :arrgh!:

Great stuff, check your inbox :)

Work continues on the British voices mod. It will be realistic and representative, for starters I'm from Nottinghamshire, with Irish family and living in Yokshire... It will be humourous but not cartoonish - all regions of the UK will be represented without being parodies. There will be Bristolians but no "ooh arr my luvver" - you get the drift :P)

However, until then, the first of my sound packs is ready. Whilst it is for SH4 at the moment, it wouldn't take any time to put into SH3.

Here is the British Dive Klaxon Pack
