I just found out about this and I, like many now have a reason to explore SH 5. Too bad this didn't happen sooner.

WELL, I can now (finally) check this thing.

I have now also bought the game due to the change. It cost something like £2.50 (delivery was about the same again). It's a shame they didn't want the other £30 odd that I would have spent if it didn't have the always-on DRM.

Well, with the DRM being disabled, will it run nicely on my rig?

Specs,

eVGA 780i mobo
Intel Core2 Extreme 1333 Mhz Quadcore
8Gigs of Ram
eVGA GTX 260 x 2 in SLI
1000 watt PSU
32 inch VIZIO HDTV for a monitor
Logitec 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound Audio

If so, when I have the pennies saved up, I'll pick it up. Work ran out today, so it may a week or two before more work comes in.

Just ordered it at a ridiculously low price. I can live with DRM but to force you to be 'online' to play I just couldn't get myself to do it. I love the series. Played SH3 a lot but couldn't not get into SH4.

I would think you can run it just fine, i run it on a

I3 core
6 gigs ram
6770 HD video card x 1 with 1 gig of ram
and i seem to do fine

Thanks for the info Sirbum69!

Hate getting software that won't run the current rig. Had to for 2 years to play SH4 until I had a powerful enough rig. But in the end it turned out fine, because all the bugs were worked out to make it playable, and the supermods were out too.

Looks like the same thing for SH5. Nice to see all the mods too for it.

If this really is true, then I will go tomorrow and buy SH5. :salute:

They could have done this from Day one!:nope:

Iron Budokan 11-29-11 05:52 PM

This is good news. I don't know if I will buy the game because I am so busy with other things in my life right now, but this is a very good thing. :salute:

It's definitely true. I've had mine for more than three weeks now, and having some problems with my inferior rig, but it does run on it. Every time I load it up I get a message telling me I'm disconnected and asking me if I would like to reconnect. I ignore it and click the 'Play' button at the bottom of the screen, and I'm on my way.

Yes they should have, but they didn't. They have now, and that's what I was holding out for. :sunny:

Myxale 11-30-11 01:27 PM

Got it this morn. :D

Now, I'll just have to wait for the weekend, to catch & read up on all the cool stuff made for this game!:salute:

PS. to be honest, I didn't think they would drop the DRM for another couple of years!:88)

Blimey the next thing you'll know Ubisoft might actually communicate two ways with its consumers :o

Sailor Steve 12-01-11 06:50 AM

I wouldn't count on that. They didn't tell us they were doing this. :dead:

I'm one of them.

Only just found out about the DRM change. Might grab a copy now :)
