This is true. Although i removed the anti virus off my home/gaming PC because it was eating system resources i wanted to save. Risky behavior, but i feel i know what i'm doing.
Ideally, if your on the extra cautious train:
- Run an Anti virus
- run a personal firewall. (This allows you to catch any unwanted inbound OR outbound data, this is about as important as running an AV itself)
- Visit only trusted sites
- keep your OS up to date
- Use any browser other then IE. :O:
( and if you jump on the "just how bad can the internet really be" train, install ReturnIL i linked to earlier. )
of that list, the only thing i don't do, is run an Anti virus because i'm a scrooge with my system memory. (WinXP with 2 gigs, these days thats minimal and not optimal for gaming)
