Don't order a 'shot' at the bar. No telling what you'll get! :)

Well the agriculture industry was concearned and rightfully so that the name "Swine flu" may cause a decline in the sales of pork and pork products. Look at how Russia is no longer accepting american meat products. Even though the Russians have an ulterior motive the 'swine flu' was a convienent excuse.

There calling it T1 virus now here.

Maybe its just my imagination but it seems as if all the hysteria is beginning to wane a bit.

Yeah...I noticed the headline in the local paper this morning was: "From outbreak to overreaction?"

Something I heard at work.....

In the US, there have always been those nutcases (and yes - thats what they are) that said that we would have a black President "When pigs fly."

100 days in... and we have "swine flu"

Coincidence - or prophecy?
Is it not odd that now its refered to as N1H1?

Seriously - an average of 3000 people die in the US due to normal flu every year. As of this posting - 1 - a toddler - has died because of this strain.

*My heart goes out to the family of that child, as a parent one can only imagine the heartwrenching grief*

While a sad case, in perspective this "near pandemic" is less severe than a normal flu..... Anyone say its the tail wagging the dog to help promote a new "health care" agenda push?

Just a thought.........

In all fairness there have been quite a few deaths in mexico attributed to the virus.

There may be some truth in your consipricy theory, however for the most part the willing accomplis of the media unwittingly or not are big on hyperbole and selling ad revinue.

Oberon 05-02-09 09:54 AM

:hmmm:

It's been H1N1 since the start:

Yeah, but I gotta agree that the hyperbole has proven to be completely overreactive once again. Eh well, it sells papers and gets viewing figures I guess. :damn:

Ok, I am missin this. First of all it is not called N1H1, it is H1N1

But even if the letters were reversed, what is this prophecy/coincidence thing you are alluding to?

And what would be "odd" about it?

Jimbuna 05-02-09 03:52 PM

The hype is definitely waning here in the UK.

CaptainHaplo 05-02-09 04:24 PM

Platypus - I was JOKING when I said it was prophecy.....

The joke prophecy part being "pigs fly" and swine flu.....

Cmon - I admit it wasn't that great of a joke, but now you just know why I am not a comedian.....
