Reviving this old thread , Type IX is definitely the best. Played both and there is no replacement for displacement. Did raid on Gibraltar with type 9, got over the sub nets and wrecked hell. The fact I can patrol and reload with a full Salvo plus one and reload my aft tubes fully plus one..... it has the capacity of a modern day sub. Sinking merchants with 10 deck gun rounds vs 20 to 30. Im definitely a fan of this boat. If ur worried about dive times ur doing it wrong anyways. 10 seconds is not going to save you. Maneuverability doesn't matter much either unless ur dodging mines

I usually start off with a Type II in a campaign but move on up to the 7B when available and have to renown but upgrade to a 9C to prepare for drumbeat then swith back to a 7c usually late 43 due to its speed of dive.
Then to a 21 of course to finish off the campaign. Usually have to in and edit the renown ofcourse. |

This. Love the character of a type II. every bit of tonnage feels a bit weightier in a type II. A full career includes a patrol in every part of the atlantic imho, so paukenschlag is a must. Memories of late war air attacks always make me switch back to a type VII around '43 also. Sailing a type XXI is very rare for me in a career. I usually don't make it that far.:ping: |

Thankyou! Been here a while yes, soaking it up. Thanks for being here:subsim: |
In SH3, definitely not fan of IX types.
Way too easy to rack up billions tons of merchants and... the biggest issue for me is the conning deck not proportional at all (crew is standing way too high up the conning tower). Kind of ridiculous and game breaker for me. I never use this big boy. Much prefer the work house VII types! :yep: Not running too fast, they can even make it to US coasts and back... |
Well it's easy to rack up silly tonnages in any model, but I only use VIIs. No fat pig, slow diving IXs for me. :D
|
And....there is no full interior for IX as far as i know....except in SH4.
(It could be doable to import it in SH3) |

http://snipboard.io/1eWRp8.jpg http://snipboard.io/ykZCSt.jpg Per the thread, hmm... kind of have a preference for both... of which I do a career for them but separately... keeping to that class line... VII, I start off with the 1st available & then decide which to go with next C then whatever next. Same with the IX, 1st available then upgrade to the next in line that becomes available... & so on & so forth.. til I either get k-lined by the enemy or I make it til the end.. of which.. I admit, I haven't made yet... YET, being the operative word.. I shall prevail.. hopefully before I go on eternal patrol... :Kaleun_Cheers: M. M. :Kaleun_Salute: |
