This is one of the most must have MODs. If subs were women they'd all be 1940's pinup babes in bikinis they are so fine to look at in this game now.

any chance you got a skin for USS Drum? I would love to make the boat as it was during WW2.
The "Plain Jane" look w/ no numbers is pretty boring. That must have been the last thing they did before they released the game. Missing Draft numbers...common UBI :) Got to love the realism factor :) |

But I know what you mean with boring.. I've tried this before. But as long as the texture mirror problem exists, it cannot be done nicely. |
Here's a shot of USS Drum returning to homeport 1945
http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/drum.jpg My USS Whale (Gato) skin looks very close to this picture (only not weathered, yet) This is what I made of it in my half hour lunch brake :rotfl: :rotfl: Now I really have to go back to work. http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/USSDrum.jpg  |
Fellow captains..
I need your opinion :arrgh!: I start working more and more with photoshop (always used PSP7). And I am really falling in love with this program ;) It's amazing ! My question.. (because I can do a lot more with PS then PSP) Should I make all clean skins with a bit more shadows and a few dents like the skin below. Or should I release this seperatly ? Will anybody use these or still the clean one ? I will finish one Gato or Balao skin asap so you can see these skins ingame. http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/Balao.jpg This is Balao V1.2 skin clean as released previously http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/Balaoclean.jpg |
I'd use the dented one. Real subs are dented, weathered and dirty after a curtain time in the water. Not only subs I might add, every vessel in the seawater environment will be looking like an old vessel in a relative short amount of time.
I've seen how these ships are made, and their skins are not smooth at all. Even after the paintjob they'd still show all these dents when the in the sunshine. Resume; I think denting the skins will make them a lot more authentic. |
Just saw the new stuff FF, nice work, love the S-Class stuff:up::up:

I personally prefer them a bit weathered. Just like you do them. the clean ones just looks to "clean"...but that's me ;)

Great Job. I'm interested in a skin for the Drum...like the one you started.
Your work is awesome, hope to see something soon. |

I have to start over because the one in this post is based on a dds file instead of BMP. So the end result is not a sharp as I want. I will use the picture of USS Drum in this thread as base for the skin. :arrgh!: |
Here's an update on the Tambor.. I think I will release it sunday :hmm:
The Tambor will be released in 4 different settings * Clean - right of the shipyard * Minor weathering * Heavy weathering (sorry Boris, next will be yours again  ) * Black version Minor weathering (leaving port) http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/T1.jpg http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/T1a.jpg Heavy weathering (returing to port) http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/T2.jpg http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/T2a.jpg http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/T3.jpg http://www.oldsmobile1958.com/extra/T4.jpg Hope you guys like it.. I sure do :arrgh!: |
