Dummy me for I'm not sure but is there a ten hour diff. from say Calif. or maybe Washington D.C. as to where your subs at?

If so that would make your pic in post #47 right. :hmm: ( maybe ? )

I think you are right Sir.
I am too tired to figure anything out at the moment. Got to go sleep soon. Tomorrow work day again. Gonna start that career tomorrow...hopefully:hmm:

Night all.

As a posible answer to the "Jawa" thing, the japanese don't have a "V" sound in their native language. When speaking foriegn words they use a "B" sound, but in the native tounge a "W" would be more natural for Java. Probably wrong, but that's my guess.

Q: Taifu_Noodle: What units of measurement will SH4 use?
A: Silent Hunter 3 used the same measurements system as the Kriegsmarine - based on the metric system. For Wolves of the Pacific, we will of course use the imperial system since this is the historical solution. However, we are considering to have the game switch to metric as an option.

It looks like depths are all being displayed in Meters(metric) in your pics. Are you using an 'option' to have depth measurement displayed in metric? Thanks

The measurements are only implemented in metric. There is no option at present for the actual US measure. Distances and depths are in meters and kilometers. There was not time to complete the game before the release. We will have to wait for a completion patch.

I really think it's just a typo or poor translation

I've see other map screens where it is spelled Java. I think it's just another editing error. I think we will find more errors too. The devs are probably scanning these posts to pick up on errors for the completion patch. I think we can expect one quick patch, a comprehensive completion patch, and then a final patch.

Tigrone,

Thank you for your reply and answering my question. You seem very certain with your answer and I don't doubt you, as a fellow who claims to be a beta tester has said the same thing. And all screenshots have only shown the metric system so far. Still, I would like to ask how you know for certain?

Whatever the case may be, thank you for your reply and answer.

Cheers

Looking at post #70 the underwater screenshot of the depth under keel is read as 13 meters but it looks more like 13 feet. Is it posible it's just titled wrong?

OneTinSoldier 03-18-07 08:49 PM

I agree, in the pic it looks more like 13 feet to me too. Good point and certainly a possibility. Inquiring minds want to know! ;)

Thank you very much for the time and consideration to post the images.
I' ve not seen anything which will keep me from enjoying this game.

Is it really that hard to program a piece of software so that it converts Metric units into English units? I mean, it's just a few steps in a subroutine, right? Take the Metric value, multiply by the Metric/English conversion factor, then display the English value. This seems like pretty basic stuff, so what am I missing?

Good morning!

No I am not using any option. My version of SH4 uses the metric system without setting any option.
