The only thing you should fear is fear itself. Take the battle to them kaleun and don't let those deckswabbers pester you. They seem to always forget the reason why submarines were made was to detroy pests like thos ships. After you take out 5 or more of them in shallow water in a very small timespan you will find out. I dont know why the heck I was ever scared of these guys. Go Gunther Prien on them, just without the deckguns against DD's cause thats near certain death with big groups. IF you want to go surfaced gunther prien aim for their cannons they set off a nice little explosion and pretty much leave the small arms fired as its only mean of defence. I find this good for armed trawlers if I can get behind them I quickly surface fire 1-2 shells into the DC racks 1-2 in the control center then submerge again.

I would agree with Corsair U boats in WW1 and 2 were created to sink merchants and try not to engage Combatants. Mind you there were a few brave kaleun's who took the war to the DD's and bigger but me i would rather sink a nice big fat juicy merchant:up:

One question Spray, are you playing GWX? because if you are I'm impressed. Don't think I'd want to mess with those nasties at all:o |
V&W Class
Never had any real problems with escorts, not yet (Aug, 1940 only) I think it comes from Pre-GWX where the only numberous DD was the V&W. Must keep an eye out for these swans of black... maybe carry a 12guage incase one flies over ;) |
ahhh now there is a DD i didnt think of metioning....yeah they can be a pain in the butt another worth mentioning is the C an D class.
mmmmmm i know why cant we just say the whole damn lot are a pain in the butt  |
I hate the Black Swans, too.

Hee hee - I've been shot up on the surface by torpedo boats of all things. Little buggers are everywhere in the Straits of Gibraltar. Was running out of air, and out of concern for the crew's nostrils (Bernard's socks get a bit funky after a while) I surfaced in absolutely miserable weather - zero visibility. Thought I would be safe, pop up just to get some air and back down again.
Torpedo boats can apparently see right through that stuff, though, and shot me up pretty good. They're like mosquitos - mostly pesky, but some have malaria. Otherwise, for me, it isn't the type but the quantity. Four or more of any enemy warship packing depth charges and things get ugly in a hurry. One pings, but the rest listen - so no more gunning it on ping. Makes it hard to get away. |
Hah Elcos are litle buggers i got jumped by 3 today christ they made a mess of my boat crash dive dont crash quick enough:up:

The six Black Swan's that I trying hunt me down for shooting up Lorient (Sept 44)

I miss the days of Silent Hunter I where you could take on 2 destroyers at least with a deck gun and come out on top.. Bloody realism *shakes fist* :D
