What about Steam version? Did they manage to mess things up there as well? Anyone? :hmmm:

Can UPlay be installed outside of the Program Files folders? I have a UPlay SH4, and I have it and the SH4 game, as well as my SHIII and SH5 Steam games installed in the same C:\Ubisoft folder, and I have received a UPlay update, but do not have issues. Does the SH5 UPlay game require the UPlay to be in a Program Files folder? How many folks with issues have UPlay in the Program Files folder?... :salute:

I wonder about the configurations of the individual computers, including the OS used - however:

The information i had to add is that i run a older Version of TWOS (since i didnt update any Mods so far) which is v2.2.9

Dunno if this helps to find the root cause but maybe you can at least ignore the latest changes.

I find this ~very~ interesting

My SH5 is Steam, not UPlay, but on my Windows 10 64-bit, I have a Ubisoft UPlay SH4 v1.5 game, and when installing it, the installer saw my Steam installs of SHIII & SH5, and offered to bring them into the same folder and put them on the Start menu, which I did. During the install path dialog with UPlay, I chose to install UPlay, and all Silent Hunter games in "C:\Ubisoft\" by deleting the "Program Files (x86)\" portion of the path. I re-did my Steam SH5 install the other day, to test things with Steam and UPlay, and everything went well, including after the UPlay 'update' downloaded and installed. I can play SH5 with TWoS just fine - but it is Steam inside the UPlay folder - NOT in a Program Files folder. However, I can start it from either front-end, or from the SH5.exe file. My case is probably a rather unusual set-up. My Windows 7 desktop computer's Steam SH5 is fine inside its Steam install, which is also NOT in a Program Files folder. With all installs and mod activations, the Save folder has been emptied, even for seemingly minor mod alterations. :salute:

Are there still no further updates regarding this issue?
I have experienced the same problem as everyone els, but this is my first time trying to install the mod and it is really frustrating for me, as well as i can imagine it is for all of you guys as well.

Unfortunately no. From everything we see these days is seems that uplay download SH5 is incompatible with TDW Generic Patcher and therefore TWoS and any other major mod for SH5...

vdr1981 10-22-19 10:48 AM

Did anyone actually try to run Steam conversion tool prior the Generic Patcher activation? :hmmm:

In theory this should work but only in case if uplay do not automatically download broken SH5 executable again during the game launching...:hmmm:

Looking forward for answer from people who actually understand what I'm talking about here...

I've been having a break from SH5 for a fair while, I have the UPlay download version on v1.05 of TWoS installed at the moment, but haven't started the game for a few months. I dare not run the game just now as it looks like it will succumb to this exe overwrite, if it hasn't already done so in the background.

However, I do also have the DVD version as well, and from what I am seeing in this thread this can be installed and be ok with the mod.But I have one question about this, if I uninstalled everything and reinstalled SH5 from the dvd, and ran from the exe directly, since that seems to be the recommendation, would I still be able to have a fully up to date UPlay client installed in order to run my other Ubisoft games? Or would this mean if I want to run SH5, it has to be that on its own and nothing else?

Did i understand correctly, that if i use the Steam Version and run the Steam Converter Tool everything will work again?

I would be happy to uninstall UPlay since SH5 is the only reason i have it installed.

Hi D
If you have a STEAM download then there are no problems.

@vdr1981

I've posted in Steam - will hopefully find out from Steam users if TWoS is still working.

I will consider purchasing the Steam version if I can be 100% sure it will work with TWoS. I'm just wary of my Ubisoft account somehow interfering with this process.

Your game cannot be played with v1.05.0.
Update SH5 From v1.0.5.0 To v1.2.0 Immediately After Installing > Pictorial
