Anyone have a problem with sticky mouse-look lag on the bridge after using shift-U to teleport there? Every mission, if I use shift-U once, from then on every time I am on the bridge and try to look around, the turning motion stops after a few degrees of motion laterally until I frantically slide my mouse enough to get it to move a little further and get stuck again. It only happens on the bridge, inside the sub everything is fine.

Shift-U is more of a "last resort, I'm stuck and can't move" key as opposed to a "beam me up Scotty!" key.
If you want teleporting, use TheDarkWraith's UI mod. At least there teleporting is intentional and tested. :) |
As I am new to PC games, and Silent Hunter 5 is my very first game I am need of some advice.
My PC is connected to my 47in LCD TV. I first installed the game last night and gave it a go. Whilst inside the boat and pen, walking about is somewhat studdery. It is not smooth. Neither is rotation of the camera. My graphics card is a EN9500 GT with 1G of onboard RAM, so I don't think it is the card. I suspect it is a resolution setting. I have it set to the max setting of 1920 or so x 1080. Is that the issue? Do I need to set it lower to have smoother movement and transitions? Any hints would be helpful to a PC and subsim noob. **********EDIT- From what I can tell, it turned out to be a video driver issue. The driver I had was 108.1 which is what the game warned me about. I found a 191.7 driver on the Asus website, downloaded and installed that and now things are working a lot better. |
Large steamer splits in two pieces after torpedo hit and SH5 starts treating them as
I came accross of another abnormality in the game. I was on my second patrol doing British Coastal Waters mission and I met the small convoy in 5 ships total. When I made a torpedo attact on one of them, the torpedo knocked off the the tip of the ship's bow. After that the front piece sank and the system showed that the whole ship went down though the larger portion was still floating. When I surfaced and started shelling that piece the damage meter showed up but it was spanned accross the whole screen, and when that piece finally went down the system showed it as the second sunk ship. Weird. I wish that were real thing during the WWII.
Here is another one: apparently some British destroyers are capable to permeate the land masses and stay inside of them without any damage. I observed it while attacking Capital Ships at Scapa Flow on Sept. 24, 1939, Sub VIIA. |
i have just witnessed britsh sunderlands attacking a britsh task force, they seem to be allied planes to me but they have britsh markings =S

Game options don't save
The title says it all. None of the game options that you select stay saved.
' Welcome to "Doobie"-soft, your global provider for crash-happy betaware. :damn: |
Im thinking you either installed it in "program files", which is not smart, or don't know about the options in the main menu only applying to single missions and MP, while you can set campaign options by pressing "Esc" while in the bunker and selecting options there.
Poorly documented feature that, same with SH4. |

CO2 / surfacing problem
Hi guys,
after patching to 1.2 I have a problem with surfacing the boat. Obviously, sometimes the surfacing is not recognised correctly, so that: - the bridge crew does not appear on the bridge - the CO2 level rises and rises Is that a known bug, or maybe a problem that comes along with one of the many mods I have installed? _______ EDIT: Obviously a known bug. Saving and reloading should solve the problem. Found it over in the german UBI Forum! Just disregard! |
Watch crew won't go on duty AT ALL
need i say any more subject says it all, they won't spot anything either, i spose cos they left there binoculars in port.

What stupid modelling sources did the devs used?
The Scharnhorst actually had three screws not two:har: http://s1.directupload.net/images/10...p/nvxbiljd.png |
I keep falling from the conning tower of the VII-B, instead of "grabbing" the edge of the ladder down to the deck. Its not right that Bernard is laughing at me for a change.
|
I'm sure it has allready been adressed somewhere in here but I do feel a bit lazy ATM.
So here's the question, has the invisible seafloor thing been fixed, or modded or anything? |
