Journal and Captain's Log questions
I have a couple of questions that may have been asked somewhere in this huge thread, but which I couldn't find:
1. Is there a setting to have the journal autosave on exit, or do we have to always manually save it before exiting, either within the game, or by exiting to the main menu first? If there isn't a setting, would it be possible to create a setting in options to allow us to have it autosave? 2. Is there a setting in options that allows us to have TC set to 1 (and the flashing icon) upon receiving a new message from BdU that comes through the Captain's Log? I would like it to be the same action as I get with the message log, so I don't have to a) constantly check the CL for messages, or b) miss good messages in the CL, because I checked too late to take appropriate action on a reachable sighting. Thanks! :salute: |
Hi 7Infanterie19
Check out the Radio tab in TDW's Options File Editor Viewer. There maybe something useful in it. Peter |
This is also very useful from Sober
How i adjust the SH5 save game folder before starting a career . What adjustments do i make to TDW UI options . The save game folder is usually installed to your documents folder and is named SH5 The document that you want to adjust is found in Documents\SH5\data\cfg\main The first settings i adjust are the time compression settings . Here is what i adjust them to. You can copy and paste into your folder . [TIME COMPRESSION] TimeStop=0 RealTime=1 LandProximity=1,256 CriticalDamage=1,256 CrewEfficiency=128 AirEnemyDetected=1 SoundEffects=2 CharacterAnim=32 FriendDetected=1 EnemyDetected=1 RadioReport=256 Particles=32 PrayState=1 HunterState=1 3DRender=32 Maximum=256 Courtesy acknowledgement to sober |
Couple of quick question:
I've got destroyed marks showing up with TDW's generic patcher installed. But any destroyed marks are cleared on saving and exiting the game. Is that supposed to happen or are they supposed to be stored and reappear on the map next time you start it up? Secondly: The navigator...... Telling you every minute or two that you're in shallow water. I don't want to mute him completely, since the initial warning of such is useful, but is there any way to stop the repeated reports? Alternatively is there a mod that adds a Luger to the captain's cabin so I can at least shoot the bugger?????? |
As far as i know ............
The game can't save weather or damage Say you've just attacked a ship and it's about to keel over but it's still in it's last gasps of floating, then you save/exit/reload game, lo n behold the blighters undamaged Same goes with the weather, you can save in thick fog then reload into being smack bang dead to rights with angry destroyers lol So the destroyed marks for me will do the same, only time i've had these show was with bad mod soups The shallow waters, i can't rem if it's in newui's options (top left on map screen ? , one of the round icon/button options) or in tdw's options file viewer, but between those two and the generic patcher i'm sure i've seen an option for this on/off (hopefully i'm not dreaming hehe) Hope that helps :salute: |
ahh haa
Think vdr1981 did a mod to shut the over zealous 'we have flooding' dude :D WHF-FUC_We Have Flooding-Flooding Under Control_Fix Might ask and see if he'll do the same for that option |
Thanks Defiance. Much appreciate it.
If I'm not mistaken, VDR's mod for the we have flooding thing replaces the audio with a blank file, if so I'd rather have the Luger mod...... Blowing his brains out would be so much more satisfying..... ....... Or maybe I can get one of these :/\\chop |

Lol
That's funny :haha: vdr ! are you going to do 'your magic' with a mod ? ;) I did have a quick glance through options viewer, seems only text option not voice :salute: |
Is the snorkel available only for certain subs or all??? when will it be available???
:subsim::ping: |
The snorkel is available in TDW’S Options File Editor Viewer by selecting the ‘Submarine Tab’
There 4 type 7’s that you can change individually or have all of them enabled. If you disable your mods you will need to enable the snorkel again. |
Best add
You need to have the newui's (all ya mods really) enabled to see the option to change snorkel settings Without it/them enabled you won't get the option to alter Hope that makes sense |

You get that many reports about being in shallow waters? I don't, so I'm wondering if there's something I changed in the past that has become so normal now that I don't remember. Maybe I removed the audio clip. :hmmm: TC drops to 8 for shallow water (1 is too much for me) in my setup, but even though, I should hear the report. I'm going to pay attention next time and see what's up. Luger good. Too many reports bad. lol :yeah: Quote:

Cannot answer the Captains Log, sorry.
If you are worried about missing radio messages just set the TC to 1 and you will know at TC1 its either a radio message or the enemy. Best I can do. |
Thanks anyways Peter. :yeah:
Radio messages I get, but the messages and sightings that go to the Captain's Log must be checked manually as there isn't any "stoppage in play" for those. Like I mentioned, it may have been asked somewhere deep in this thread, but I couldn't find it through search, so maybe TDW has an answer for it if he gets the chance. |
Hi Jester
I am not sure if this what you are looking for but check out the 'Nav Map' options, as there is a 'Destroyed Marks' patch in TDW's Option File Editor Viewer that you can change from the default false to true. It might be this saves the 'Destroyed Marks' so you can see them next time you load the game? Peter |
Hi Peter,
I had a look at the options editor entry you mentioned. It looks like those settings set default values for what is or isn't displayed on the nav map. So the option you mention is to either view or hide the destroyed marks on the nav map. Unfortuinately it's not to set whether they're saved or not. I guess that if I really want to keep a record I could use supermarks manually sup-imposed over the destroyed marks :hmmm: |

At the moment though, I'm in the process of trying to sneak into Scapa Flow and that damn navigator is telling me literally every minute or two that we're in shallow water. Last night the cat gave me a very disapproving look when frustration got the better of me and I yelled at the PC screen, "I know we're in ******* shallow water..... I've known for an hour we're in shallow ******* water. You don't have to keep ******* telling me!" She then did the feline equivalent of rolling her eyes and went back to sleep, leaving me feeling rather silly! |

Model 24 Stielhandgranate ps : Wait til the poor old cook starts losing the plot Your sauerkraut is ready Your sauerkraut is ready Your sauerkraut is ready Your sauerkraut is ready Your sauerkraut is ready Your sauerkraut is ready Seriously, i have never had that many reports repeated in such a short time lol |
