1. possibility of being a total screw-up by Ukraine accidentally sending missiles towards Poland 2. Possibility of Ukraine intentionally firing missiles at Poland and blaming Russia, trying to get NATO more involved. 3. Ukrainian anti-missile ordnance falling on polish ground following russian missiles, that were on the way to Poland, and followed by ukrainian intercepting rockets. Then it would be a russian provocation, or a total russian screw-up. 4. those were indeed russian missiles and intentionally targeted at Poland. To sow dissent in NATO, and trying to make NATO do something stupid. Look at what happened in Bali, at which time. "Lavrov went home from Bali and reported to his boss, who then responded immediately, so Western leaders could discuss it in person on Bali. The Russians will never admit to it, of course, as well as NATO's also not interested in admitting to the truth, so they rather ask Ukraine for taking the blame for it, which they'll do. But they still got the message." The missiles' trajectories have been obviously followed, so the west is aware of where they started from, when and by whom. Exactly. My take is (as said before) that it was an intentional russian attack. The western response of playing it down would be logical. Do not follow Putin on his next try of stepping up escalation. Ignore it. Do not officially react to provocations and escalation, while exactly knowing what happened, maybe waiting for a time slot to return the favour. And make Russia know it. |
I am still undecided what version of the Poland-Missile incident I should believe. The very first american reaction came form a - media jargon - "high ranking intelligence officer" who said it were a Russian missile for sure. Later came the dementis from others and that it were an Ukrainian SAM.
The reason for NATO trying to hide a Russian missile hitting Poland, deliberatly or accidentally, may be to not let this escalate, not wanting to get drawn into something by activating article 4. So, a motive is given. However, a motive alone is not already an evidence. I withhold a final opinion forming. Currently it is not possible to form an educated opinion. |
Images of the impact sites in Poland are circulating now. Has anyone, any credible source competently and independently commented on whether the visible craters and damages correspond to the warhead and fuel load of S300 missiles, and why not one but two missiles should have malfunctioned or strayed off simultaneously and impacted so close to each other? I don't want to trust NATO's official report alone. It was mentioned that one of the craters were 20m wide and 5m deep. Thats a bit much for a medium range SAM, imo, even if adding exploding remaining fuel (whats left of it after an already longer flight) to the exploding warhead'S effect. On the other hand, the reliability of these descriptions is not really confirmed either.

Grrr, seems either me or some people in some media get that thing with two missiles wrong!? :06:

AFU know that giving Russia break is mistake, they will not make it, - Pentagon
Ukrainians know that giving Russia time to rest and rearm is a mistake they will not allow. This was stated by the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, Censor.NET informs. "I don't think the Ukrainians will let them stand. I think the Ukrainians will continue to put pressure on them. And so that dynamic on the battlefield is going to change - you know it's going to keep changing. Ukrainians know that allowing them to rest and rearm is a mistake. This is an operational error and I don't believe they would make such a mistake. You know, my goal is to make sure that Ukraine has the means to do everything necessary to ensure that they (the Russians. - Ed.) do not last," he emphasized. During a conversation with Bloomberg News editor-in-chief John Micklethwaite, Zelensky stressed that a simple ceasefire will not be enough, Ukraine needs the return of the occupied territories, in particular Crimea and Donbas.
