It's going to go to penalties at this rate...

That match is - boring.

I agree, Collina set abstandard. I don't olnwo any referee by name who could compete with his benchmark. Howeverl. the British guy tonight does not do too bad for the standards of this tournament, although there are already two serious flaws: he didn't gave a penalty for Spain just minutes ago, and earlier, he should have pulled a red aganst the Dutch.

As I see it, the Dutch can feel lucky that they do not play already with two players less.

Spain has more shares of the match, but they do not use their chances. Maybe they will cry over this. the Dutch had two major chances from sudden counter-attacks, also wasting them miserably.

It's picking up a little bit...Spain are pushing well, Holland are hitting hard still but the yellows seem to have dried up now.
Let's hope it doesn't go to penalties...but I fear it will... :damn:

And we all know how brilliant the Dutch are when it comes to penalties. :nope:

Oberon 07-11-10 03:57 PM

Spain have scored, and Holland have scored another yellow card. Oh...and so have Spain now. :har:

Paul claims victory. :yep:

Is this a new record for bookings in a game?

Oberon 07-11-10 04:03 PM

Fourteen bookings
Thirteen yellows
One red
Hundred twenty minutes of play
One goal
Spain win.

Paul wins.

Holland looks to kill the referee. :dead:

On a side note, Iniesta's tribute to Jarque on his undershirt was rather touching.

"Dani Jarque siempre con nuestros."

Well done Andrés, well done.

All in all the better team won. Congrats to Spain. The referee was mediocre, quite some additonal mistakes he made in overtime.

In world football, the Europeans dominate over the Southamericans - different to what usually is said. I often wonder why some commentators always talk as if the total superiority of Southamerica is a given. That claim just holds not ground.

It seems to me that indeed the currently best three or four teams in the world mark the first three (four) placements in the championship.

They got Eliyah in on the left flank and he ends up mostly defending. Almost completely ignored from the moment he stepped on the field, the ball finding it's way instead to an exhausted Robben every time.

Not too mention it was closer to a wrestling match... imho we didn't deserve it here.

to sum up the finale = C-R-A-P

Both Teams dissapointed me, Spain for their theater acting and Ramos the 2nd field referee, Holland for losing their nerves and lost track of the game and where more worried on what the Spaniards performed in drama next and played their game by beeing the play's bad guy.
and the usual Referee that liked to take the rythm out of the game and a offside goal...excellent...
