Well spotted Steve.

Thorn is our Master User! :rotfl:

Now who can place that quote?

Anyway, to echo Steve's words, welcome Thorn and thanks

Several people have said to me that I'm doing a lot of work on this given that I no longer play, so just to clarify something: I am actually playing SH3 again now, hence my renewed interest. That said, I don't want to be modding it long! It's my hope to have a version of OLC GUI which I can call "finished" ready for GWX 2.1 so that I can start a new career and just play the war all the way through, or at least until I die (DiD ya know).

Probably, yes, once I've ironed out the crinkles. In other words, 1.2.0 won't be released for stock but 1.2.1 should be released quite soon for both stock and GWX.

Alea iacta est. :D:p

Sink them all and good luck.

Well, thanks for casting it (the die) here ;)

Small announcement: I've thought of a way to get the local time back into the game without compromising the rest of the GUI! It'll be included in 1.2.1 :D

Im abit late just downloaded the 1.2.1 update now. Many thanks i know its going to be good!

Still, easy to fix the deckgun sight as above, so no worries there.

One aspect I don't like about the deckgun 'binoculars' is that on full zoom you can't see the end of the gun barrel, which you need to judge if it's pointing up or down too much as the boat rocks (causing you to miss). But better that than not being able to aim at all

I tried to get rid of that pesky red crosshair but it seems to be hardcoded. So, as a workaround, I think I'll add the crosshair to the zoomed in view. That'd suit my slightly anal tastes and, if I understand you correctly, everything should work fine from an aiming point of view.

It's the least important thing of all though! I never encountered the bug you mentioned, but not to say it doesn't exist and is understandably annoying when it does.

Click on the UZO. Not the UZO shortcut, but the actual UZO itself.

If I added a little "dot" it'd have the same problem. :(

Yes, you understand me correctly, and that would do nicely. :yep: All that's needing for aiming is some kind of vertical mark. Alternatively we could all draw a line down the centre of our monitors I suppose :88)

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about the deckgun binoculars? Is it the figure-of-8 shape again? I've no idea what the view through those should be, but even if not the figure-of-8, maybe at least like the regular binoculars. I'm just a little surprised that you'd rather have no representation of the optics at all when the deckgun clearly has optics of sorts :hmm:

I tend to have somewhat anal tastes too, so to speak :yep:

I've done that before, but never noticed it. Which is surprising with me since I'm a picky bugger (in case you didn't notice already :rotfl: ). Will try it out!

OK, now I've got a whole new issue that is either due to GWX or OLC GUI but not one I've seen reported before. When approaching an enemy harbour I start to get glitches on programs and system files running in the background. It'll start with some kind of sound dll error and then another system dll error and then font and text size will change in firefox. While this is happening, in game the sounds slowly fade. They come and go and finally disappear entirely.

Finally, if I'm not out of the game quick enough (say, within the next 15 minutes) I get more and more errors with my startup-programs monitor telling me that all kinds of basic system functions are asking to start up with each boot which they are supposed to do anyway. When I exit SH3, most of it goes back to normal. I get no more errors and the fonts are back to the way they should be. I then have to reboot to resume normal computer operations.

This is a new, clean installation of SH3 1.4b with GWX2 and OLC GUI installed but no other mods. Absolutely nothing has changed with my system physically or system-wise since running SH3 with GWX 1.03 this past summer with no errors.

Help again!

Thanks

Martin

Dreamer, sounds to me like your CPU is overheating - badly! See if you can monitor its temp while approaching port. If it's overheating, clean the heatsink and check that gooey stuff that sits between the heatsink and the processor.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like that to me.

Edit: btw, whatever the problem is, I very much doubt it has anything to do with GWX or the GUI.

recently installed this mod and using it with hi res fix at 1366x768 on 32" monitor and looks fantastic. took a little while to get used to the different interface and find all the dials knobs and switches but this is the best interface yet that ive seen or used in any subsim ive played, far better than sh4 as well.
