I wish someone would update the first post with links to mirrors for the file or even reupload it to FileFront.

I get a dead link for that one also

Where is a good link for this mod, the PE4 link is dead for me.

I completely agree with you on that. Both RE and PE introduce absolutely unrealistic, wrong view on pacific environment.

Whether you're pro or con the royal blue ocean of almost all environmental mods, photos are seldom "non-enhanced." Most 35mm cameras use UV or similar filters in front of the lense to cut down on glare ... and 35mm film is color-correcred for certain temperatures of light. Digital cameras usually have coated lenses that alter color and offer menu options for color adjustments to differing light sources.

It's all preference. There is no 'right or wrong'. If you like stock use that, if not load a mod. :yep: Griping because others use cosmetic mods to change the game seems a bit odd though.

You must be right, guys - I never been to Hawaii myself, so I can't judge things I never seen. It just looks quite unrealistic to me.

Now I use some tweaks for Real and Pacific Environment mods, made by member of russian forum Sukhoi.ru. Here's some screenshots:

LOL for every picture you can show of seas that don't look like PE4, I can show you one that does. So much depends on the time of day, year, weather, etc. that there is no "right" or "wrong."

Personally I've seen for myself water around Hawaii that looks like in PE4 - and NOT! :)

Only the smell of salt water missing.

Bill,

Can I get some help ?

I am trying to install the PE 4 mod into Silent Hunter 4. I have the mod enabler JSGME and a MODS file both in the in the games DATA file. But, it does not seem to want to enable PE 4.:hmmm:

Thanks

Ha-ha! You fell for the same thing I did on my first install attempt! You need to install JSGME to the base installation path, NOT your DATA folder! I'm thinking it's a common mistake... because no one really reads the instructions included in the setup. ;) Odds are now you have a DATA folder in your DATA folder, too.

I believe the fix is to uninstall the mods using JSGME, delete the extra DATA folder, move the MODS folder to the base install path, uninstall then reinstall JSGME to the proper folder.

Do you have a URL for those tweaks? I love stock water and sky colours. IMHO for a number of technical reasons one can never get truly realistic environmental colours, so I prefer ones with an artistic flair.

Unfortunately the major mods nowadays all have some kind of PE/RE rolled into their releases, so there is no longer any real option not to use them.

Much obliged. Got it to work with Environment 5 and TM 1.7:salute:. Everything looks very good except for the muzzle flash and hit explosion, they look like '99 graphics, also there is no chase camera :shifty:.

i hope you remembered to uninstall the mods "before" you started deleting and moving stuff?

if not just uninstall and reinstall the game. its quicker and you'll be sure its fixed instead of trying to correct the corruption and undo what you did.

I'm thinking that if it was installed to the wrong folder, it just copied all the mod files to the wrong folder, too. If I remember correctly, when I installed it to the data folder instead pf the install path, it made a data folder of its own inside the real data folder. I believe it makes the mods to a path relative to itself instead of relative to the install directory.
