Mebbe someone reading this thread can answer...

I am on patrol 2 in my IIA, Flotilla 1 1939. The 2cm flak gun appears to be bugged (as it isn't there)
Or do I need an upgrade to be able to mount an AA gun?

Thnx

You have to upgrade to it. Go to the flack option and click on the one thats there and vwala you have a AA gun.

you are doing very well attacking those search planes - is this a better strategy than diving?! Never been past patrol 20 myself, and it was the planes that ended it.

My first two 'careers' put me in type VII boats. I gotta say, I got used to them. So this last time I decided to pick a different flotillla starting point. Well, I got a type II this time. WHOA! What a tub... Not enough people (I'm spoiled by the type VII), not enough fish, and where's my prized deck gun? Once I was used to the VII, there's just no going back. I've got a seperate 'career' going in that type II, but I just can't bring myself to devote hours to that boat when I've got a VII waiting just a click away. I might have quit the navy if I'd gotten stuck on a II to start with.

And here I kept getting disappointed by not starting in a II.

Sorry all you II lovers... but I'm hooked on the VII...

U-262 recently finished the war and docked in her home port of Wilhemshaven, by then neutral, May 15, 1945. The crew began in a IIa and finished in a VII-C/4. It took over three months real-tme to complete the career, with the game changing and evolving with technology and allied skills. It was allot of fun and at times nerve wracking.

I've recently began a new career, with the goal of going all the way through again, this time in a IId. Knowing what lies ahead in '44, and '45, it seems practically impossible, but what a challenge.

With such a small crew, getting most of them the German Cross In Gold should be possible, and having a "Super Crew", should enhance our chances greatly. Now, if I can just figure away to install a snorkel on this little canoe we may be in business!

I'm also pleasantly surprised with it's range. We left Wilhemshaven, went into Scapa,(finding nothing but patrolling DD's), and then on to our present location about 50k west of the Channel. Fuel comsumption has been just a little over 25%, which is not bad at all.

Last night we had our first sinking, a T3, cut from a convoy heading for the Channel. Two escorts DC'd us but we escaped at 120m.

We'll stay in this area for awhile, waiting for more targets. With plenty of fuel and four eels remaining, U-2 "Mad Duck", has plenty of time!

Good hunting to all!

I did a career in a IIA recently. It only lasted for 6 patrols before Bdu put me on the beach. Damn Bdu anyway. :nope:

But it was a good career, I suppose. The records were lost in an upgrade after the "black sky" plague, so I don't have the details, but we sunk something like 90K tons of shipping and four or five warships. Half of these were sunk on the way into or out of Scapa and a few of the SE England ports.

I liked the little IIA, I did. My crew liked it even more. We could only stay out for a few weeks at the most and then they would get a month in the brothels. I think it must have been the best duty in the Kriegsmarine.

Good Hunting,

JBC

Correction, we're aboard IIb U-6 "Mad Duck", not U-2. Just finished our 3rd patrol with acceptable tonnage, 39k.

zombiewolf 11-04-05 08:35 PM

:|\ Alas I too loast a crew to that black sky plaque :arrgh!:
