43 here and although I started with "Pong" and "Space Invaders", I have been an avid fan of simulations ever since. I just picked up SH3 a few weeks ago.

My father served in the US Navy from '39 to '45 aboard three destroyers: Hammann, Bristol, and Isherwood. He said he tried several times to transfer to subs, but couldn't break free of the tin cans.

Nice distribution of ages here...

62. Been interested in subs all my life probably from my Father who served in them during WWII, based in a port called Blyth on the North East coast of England.

28 years old, and truly in love with SH3 again because of GW.

Actually SH3 is my first warsim, I have only played racing simulators before.

(I dont consider first person shooters simulators, although Red Orchestra is nice)

I am also a WW2-buff, and read alot.

(And I am really good looking )

Go back to Greenpencil's post on the previous page and look at his profile...he's even younger.

Kaiserron 07-16-06 03:56 PM

I'm 45 now, but I've never quite grown up. Just enjoying the game when I can, and reliving some of the good times I had back when I had the privilege to serve on an old diesel boat. DBF:arrgh!:

29 here, as far as I remember from last time my friends tried to wish me happy birthday. What's wife anyway? A woman I live with doesn't even ask "What are you doing? Why aren't you asleep? Don't you go to work in two hours?" when she gets up in the morning and prepares herself to leave. She knows I'm sinking hard. :) And then makes some really good coffee... Do we have real coffee on our boat? Quite strange...

Well I have to hand it to you Sir, that sounds a whole lot cooler than 'just' 1971: I'm from Generation X! I guess that will turn at least a couple of heads at birthday parties :D

So what does a 35 year old kid do with his spare time? At this moment I'm sharing my PC time solely between SHIII and sim racing, as that's my second big hobby. Actually sim racing was the first but then all of a sudden that darn SHIII just grabbed me and won't let go.

Thus now I'm roaming the oceans in my (t)rusty IXB on my gaming rig while setting up the competition schedule for our racing team, writing race reports and patrol logs on the laptop. It's a great combination.

Oh, and should the boss ask me I'm of course studying and stuff, but I reckon he won't come in here at Subsim. :rotfl:

I'm 37. Frankly I was surprised to see the poll result. I used to wonder how many 30 something guys are there who still play computer games ... Turn out I'm not the only kid around ...:D Phew...

My first subsim game was Wolfpack, in the late 80s IIRC. Back then my favorite games were Wolfpack and Battle of Britain: their finest hour.
