I live in the Netherlands.Years ago I fooled around a bit with SH2. Great game, lesser graphics though. I kept thinking, what if..
To make a short cut, since a few months I have SH3, 4 and 5 up and running.
Another shortcut:I'm happy.
Coming from, and still playing flight sims(I am an active member of RAF-Sim), I jumpt into this world of water,it's amazing.
Working on using mods, which isn't going that well at the time, but I'll place my questions to the right forum in time.
:arrgh!:
nice to have joine in.

Hello Everybody

Hey there, was always interested in subs and simulations but somehow never got a hand on one. Now bought SH5 and experienced, read and heard that it would need a lot of modding to be any fun. So..here I am, hand over them mods!!!

And, yeah, i also enlisted to learn a thing or two from the more seasoned captains.

cheers

Hello Subsim!

I'm 15 and from the U.S. I found these forums when searching to see if there were any WWI mods for Silent Hunter IV. And There is :DL.

I've always been fascinated with the period from the First Collation against Napoleon I to WWII for my entire life. But recently I had a revelation that I am extremely interested in the time period of 1914-1918. We should all know what happened in those years :O:. So I have found that my calling is a WWI Archeologist.

I had purchased my first Silent Hunter game today, #4. Extremely new to it, but seriously fun!

My dad served in the Navy on board subs for 20 years until his retirement from the Navy in '04. I'd have to double check his rank and everything since it was so many years ago and I was pretty young. Because of that I've always had an interest in the Navies of the world, especially subs. My dad had also recently expressed interest in finding a submarine sim, maybe now I'll get him hooked :arrgh!:. Also, he served in the Engine rooms.

I'll tell you the subs he served on if you're interested :woot:.

Also, I'm personally against the idea of war unless there is a dire circumstance where it is needed (I.E Defensive. But if someone did that attacking, doesn't that make the original point moot? Ah, that's the thing with being into philosophy.). Yet for some reason I continue to play games like Total War, Mount and Blade, and now Silent Hunter :p. I think this song sums up my views pretty well (It's a Rock Ballad by the Swedish Power Metal band "Sabaton" a personal favorite of mine): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvdb...eature=related

Welcome aboard, guys :salute:

I think a lot here would like to know your Dad's subs, bdd458.

bdd458 05-15-12 02:16 PM

His first ship was the USS George Washington Carver (SSBN-656) and his other one was the USS Augusta (SSN-710). Interestingly, he was also considered to be in the movie K-19 :O:.

Hello all, I am a Silent Hunter 4 player. I have been playing for a couple years and am finally trying to learn manual targeting when I found subsim.com. I first got into sub simulators back in the early 90's with the dos version of Aces of the Deep.
