If there are enough people running for the store shelves and imparting tremendous bandwidth usage to the Steam servers on release day, the companies will see $$$$, not the gamer wish/fix list afterward. To be fair, some companies are better about this than others.
Don't trust anyone over thirty, either. (especially privateer, Reece, or me :O:) |

Especially, especially not people twice over thirty. Bad juju. ...... ......... .......... ........... ............... ................. ................... My God. In a few short years nobody will trust me. I will be too old. I mean, young. Erm, old. No, young! *facepalm* This is complicated. |
In answer to the OP; I don't think Ubisoft abandoned us.....I think they made a very poor business decision and they are now paying the price for it....as are subsimmers everywhere.
If they were to remove the DRM component, at least they would leave the Silent Hunter franchise on a high note. :) |
This is the progression for Silent Hunter IV: Wolves of the Pacific
SHIV released March 20, 2007 Free Patch 1: March 22 Free Patch 2: April 17 Free Patch 3: July 12 Free Patch 4: November 26 Add-On: March 28, 2008 As opposed to SHV release: March 2 Patch 1: March 3 Patch 2: May 11 So if there actually is another patch, we won't see it until July-August. However, given the lack of feedback for the game by Ubisoft, I think they have unofficially abandoned the game |
After watching the ubisoft E3 event yesterday, it became very obvious were ubisofts future lies and sorry but the silent hunter franchise won't be in it.
Am I sorry? No I'm not because after the SH5 treatment I'm glad it stops here. I would love the GWX team to go back and finish SH4 GWX. |
I have not bought or even seen anyone play SH5. Normally I support my fav game titles. Like SH3 for example. I still encourage my friends to buy it and then point them over here to Subsim for appropriate modding.
I would really like to play SH5 but the negative feedback is horrific. :nope: Besides the DRM issue.. is it true that you are limited to certain types of boats? Its not like SH3 where I anxiously await each passing month til I can upgrade to my beloved IXD2?? I am somewhat confused with the gameplay. Maybe its too much rumor control. I am sure I will have to buy it at some point and find out for myself. "Dont worry Neal I'll use the Amazon link." :DL I can only pray that a phoenix arises from the ashes of SH5... I am spoiled rotten by GWX and Commander and many other wonderful mods and skins etc, which allowed me to create a "Burger King.. Have it your way.." type of game. Anyways I would love to help in future endeavors for this game but anything above and beyond gameplay and graphics issues my abilities are somewhat limited. I mean anyone can spot a destroyer with wings. No? |

But BFC is run by wargamers who actually care about the games they put out. |

slow demise of PC Games?
i was in my local Game the other weekend and it looked like the old days of out-going LP's and in-coming CD's.
less and less space for pc games and the ever expanding console range. ...some where in there is SH5 et al... i can only guess titles like SH are of not much monitary income for the big boys in suites? |

Recee and flag4,
It has been that way in the US for a few years now. Wal-mart has a better pc games selection than the local EB Games store. |

You can trust in that. I may be too tired to be dishonest, but you can trust in me to be confusing. Every time. Also confused. |

I have to hand it to you, you are good at the art of confusion. |
I'd say keep an eye on this thread over the coming days.

Response from Ms-Mkleaneasy (Ubi forum manager): "@ All – I’ve raised the question and my boss is contacting EMEA to see what the situation is although he has warned me with E3 we may not get a prompt response. As frustrating as it is I can only ask you bear with me, and if we’ve still nothing this time next week I’ll make some more noise http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif" |
