@ Neal : Perhaps posting this poll at Ubi would be better, cause most of all Subsim forum members who are german actually speak english fluently !
Asking true german speakers what they think about the creation of such a section of the forum that would be dedicated to them could be fine. :arrgh!:

My 2 cents. :|\\

Good point, but I don't think recruiting unhappy people at another forum is a good idea :) However, if someone else mentions that Subsim is cranking up a German-language forum, well, I guess that's ok, right?

If only I spoke German and was as passively devious as you.

but I'm afraid I would rarely visit this german subforum because I like the internationality in the main forums. and to be forced to deal with world's language nr1 really helps to improve one's vocabulary ....

:sign_yeah: ......I have nothing to add.

Alex 02-26-10 05:41 PM

@ Nisgeis : :D

@ Neal : yep, I guess so. Especially as an ubi admin/mod came here requesting Subsim forum members to participate to some contest related to their forum... I actually can't see a single reason why Ubi forum members shouldn't hear about Subsim soon. ;)

urfisch 02-26-10 05:42 PM

me too...i think this is a really good idea. i often came across the situation german modders tried to communicate their stuff and even other german members where answering in english. maybe we get this process more fluently, if we would have a german forum here. also its much more independent and focussed on the main topic and our all passion: uboats

:salute:

AND

maybe we will attract more people to get here and share their skills with us.

:know:

Danke!!

Asakura 02-26-10 07:05 PM

Sure, why not? Let's have a german section! :salute:

I was also thinking about offering service as moderator, but hmmm, not sure if I could handle a big crowd. I've been moderating some forums until now, but with a user amount of less than 100. Guess this forum would be too much for me. ^^;

Papa Schulz 02-26-10 08:28 PM

I voted yes - I am German and my English is not perfect. So I would prefer to write my further posts in German.

OK,until yet i don't vote because i'm not sure.

But now i voted "YES" - Let's do.

LiveGoat 02-27-10 12:49 AM

Ja.

Highbury 02-27-10 12:52 AM

I voted no. I have seen several Germans speak to each other in their own language on these forums and it has never been an issue that I have seen.

I also don't like the potential split in the community. Imagine if we had this a couple years ago, Tomi's mod threads would probably not be in the "English" forum :O:

Hi Neal,

that would be great. Sadly, my english is very bad, barely enough to read it.
I would highly appreciate a german sub section around here.

Thanks

Noren 02-27-10 08:05 AM

I cant see why not?!?

Many of us read both languages and the possibility of enrichment
would be enough to motivate this. Diversity will make both groups
stronger and Im sure ideas will flow back and forth.

Germany is after all a 80+ million hi-tech country that has a lot to offer.

Like people capable of expressing themselves in english ? :DL

Noren 02-27-10 08:12 AM

True. You are much better than the Italians and Greek at this, even those who directly work with tourists :D

Steeltrap 02-27-10 10:21 AM

Well a little OT, but I can't resist....

Does anyone else appreciate the irony of Germans fleeing a forum run by a French company that's conducting ruthless censorship, all concerning a game about German submarines in WWII?

What's more, asking for refugee status in a forum run by Americans speaking English (well, as close to that as they ever get), who are also, in game, sinking 'their own' ships?

Meanwhile, the game was developed in Romania....as was most of the oil on which said submarines ran.

Perhaps we could get UbiSoft to relocate their headquarters to Vichy??

:D:D:D

The Greeks should learn German, seeing as Germany is getting pressured to buy their country.....:haha:
