Absolutely beautiful and professional quality work!

Letum 08-19-09 08:52 PM

When I saw the SHV trailer I immediately noted that it was not as good as
Tomi's work and smiled.

The SHV devs are professionals; there time is limited and they have no special
love for their work.
Tomi is no professional and it shows in his work. the exquisite and painstaking
detail can only be the work of someone with enough passion to do it for free
in his spare time and without deadlines and time efficacy concerns.

Stunning as always Tomi. Bravo.

QFT , I think Tomi's work seems far more detailed and has a much better feel to it! :salute:

vickers03 08-20-09 09:35 AM

but don't forget, the ubi devs have to do
3-4 different u-boat types with complete interiors
in a very short time.

Quite so.
And their work is not a labor of love like Tomi's.

tonschk 08-20-09 11:56 AM

Hello there , I am sorry about this , Timo send me over two weeks ago some more photos about the Vesikko , and I was busy somewhere else , I hope Tomi can give those extra photos to the GWX3/4 Team to help them to improve even more the details of the Type II U-Boot , thank you Tomi :yeah:

I beg to differ. Many people will die for a job in the gaming industry. I am pretty sure the fellows at Ubi Romania have a passion for their work. The difference is, they have to do 100x as much work in half the time. I can speak from personal experience that dev projects usually get cut off just to make the deadline. In fact, I'm right in the middle of one at work. I don't like it, but it's not my call...

Sure, but however passionate a dev is about his/her work, they are limited
by professionalism. Generally, professionals can't devote more time to their
work than they are paid for. Doing so in a formal employer/employee
relationship is usually unprofessional and can lead to all kinds of problems.
Then when I am working I have to use my time efficiently. A professional
makes the work fit in to the time; an amateur makes the time to fit the
work in.

It's the reason great artists, as a rule, are self-employed.

I slightly disagree here, in the sence that most likely the reason for fewer details of the SH5 interiors ain't limitation of time or passion, but a demand to have the game meeting some criteria of mid-level pc spec's, so that the game reaches out for the widest possible customer mass.

EDIT:
But it shall be interesting to see, if not Tomi's work can be ported over to SH5, if necessary. Since we still don't know how the final product looks like....

I think UBISOFT just wanted to say "We'll continue on this Platform!" :salute:
It is too early to man judgments can only guess!, but even if a new Engin
is made, is this only a shadow ofthet what is coming.

Skwasjer was right when he says the images of at UBISOFT only half at the time
expense was for the manufacturer.

Incidentally," Time is Money ":shucks:
How much money is enough for a good simulation in the current demands of customers
as well as development projects release to include a profit-making.

That it is proven like Crysis.
The future is probably a mixture of Battlestations - and Crysis

( Grafic , Engin , Animaton ) .

I think we must be satisfied that all the efforts of the SUBSIM :yeah:and UBICOM
have yet proven.

I tell you that just keeps getting better!

and here a small taste of the future! :03:
