You may try again. Russians will always find a rope for a noose. |
And this priest 'batjushka' won't sing 'Farewell' to you. That's for sure.

There were few NAZI sympathizers rather they were Anti-Soviet, any good feelings toward the Germans vanished with Nazi brutality. |

Here's an appeal of Mitropolit Kievskiy and Galitskiy Nikolay. Russian Orthodox Church for area of Ukraine June 22nd 1942. The highest priest of Ukraine is sanctifying a struggle against Germans and their collaborators. He called them 'fascists'. He is calling for vengeance. So, those who were fighting Germans and their collaborators were doing Christ's work. The opposite party are forces of anti-Christ respectively. 'I give your enemy into your hands' and don't ask for mercy or tell about regrets. |

Has anyone ever told you that the war ended 63 years ago? And that Germany is a functioning democracy, unlike Russia? :hulk: |

If you wish I can tell you how to find this document in Russian Church Archives. About those first five years. Do you have any idea that there was a CIVIL WAR in Russia? Church supported the Whites - i.e. bloody enemies of the Reds. Reaction from the Reds was predictable and effective. The friend of my enemy is my enemy. Period. After the Civil war Stalin stopped that. During the Great Patriotic War the Russian Orthodox Church was a very strong supporter of the Soviet people and the Soviet Army. The Church even bought a unit of tanks - the first T-34-85 brand. That tank unit was called Dmitriy Donskoy. And some priests would fight with guns in their hands - preaching by action. |
