I turned 65 last March ... but all I got was a phone call a week later from my son saying, "Hey dad when's your birthday" :salute:
I say give the award to Sailor Steve ... he's been the best overall poster and supporter of all that is decent and good order at subsim even though at least half of his post have been to correct others mis-spellings lol But in my defense I did get here in 99 ... I just can't prove it :O: |

I thought I might have had something as far as a post from way back I remeber the old green and black site, alas nothing.

I've been here for awhile but plenty of older members still lurking.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but anyone check the Internet Archives?
http://web.archive.org/web/200008310...ubsim.com/ssr/ Go there and you can check some of the old forums out. Kind of cool for me, since it was way before my time. |
Yeah, the EZBoard message board is archived but not to the individual posts level. Still, one can go back to Oct 2000 and see who made posts, that certainly counts. :ping:
And to think, we had another forum before that one that dates back to 1997... |

Actually, Rick, if you look back in the EZBoard archives, you appear as far back as Feb 2001.... :hmmm: ...but I'm pretty sure Bill and John were onboard before then, too. John wrote the first DiMercurio article for Subsim in Sept 1998 :D |

But I was only 12 when I started Subsim ! :O:
Here is a good record of who was around in the beginning, the Fix My 688(I) roster. Scroll down to the middle of the page, the blue table has the original 1998-1999 signers. Order appears to the left to right, top to bottom... I recognize a lot of names in the first three rows Neal Stevens Scott Hirschman Pat Miller Bill Nichols Robert Mauchin Colin Foster Barry Barnes Jorgen Hallbeck Lonny Hodges John Easley Ernest Fratz J.D.Latorre Pierre Ducasse Magne Tjoerhom Bill Keys F. Morissette - SIM HQ R. Litchfield - SIM HQ Ed Lynch - SIM HQ Ben Qol Ed Quiggle Nick Meis Lane Goodman Randall Guy Angelo Jun Arisaka Kevin Polito Joong-Hoon Kang Joshua J. Btw, a select few (and I mean few) of the old threads and posts are available at that site, but it is luck of the draw. In any case, I'm totally pissed that I missed Subsim at that point, even though I was playing sub games! How dare you not be popular enough in your infancy to not be known by me! Like I said earlier ... Neal, best site on the net, hands down! You know your thing and make it happen for everyone else who gets the point. |
there is a site, archives.org, or something like that where all old web sites, minus images, go to lie down.
