Please just continue as you first intended VonDos, the breaking of the ship could be done later, I for one couldn't care less if it broke in half or not, in fact I think sinking ships look more awesome when they don't split in half, IMO!!:D Such as:

Note the resized oblo ^_^

Nice work overall but it looks like the bow still has some rake to it. The Titanic's bow was essentially straight, forming an almost perfect 90' angle to the water surface. Generally few ships had raked bows until circa 1930-1935 (not counting old-fashioned clipper bows).

Reece 08-17-08 11:49 PM

Although from a sim, are supposed to be accurate::yep:

Yea the ship sim model is veary detailed, but that is because it is for sailing not sinking.:D

VonDos 08-18-08 04:28 AM

Abiut the bow

Also in simulator she isn't too vertical.

Looks good VonDos, I wouldn't worry about it, I think the angle is correct.

iambecomelife 08-18-08 06:59 PM

From an angle a vertical bow will often appear sharply raked. There was a slight rake and a very pronounced slant beneath the waterline but the portion above water seems to have been a bit straighter than vondos' model. I don't mean to be a total "rivet-counter", or anything - it's your call.:yep:

Anyway, great job, and I can't wait to see it as "Olympic", slathered with dazzle paint!

Just as well - at last count, Titanic had about 3 MILLION rivets....that's a LOT of counting!!

You all just slay me at times!!
:rotfl:
We put deck chairs on for your enjoyment,
But the Bow is off by 4 degrees or so.
It is a game after all.
And how many could stand actual scrutany?
:hmm:

Face it people.
There is NOT one ship for the SH games that is perfect to the last detail!!
Show me the one you THINK is perfectly modeled?
I'll show you the faults in the model!!

Reece 08-18-08 09:57 PM

@ Privateer

roadhogg 08-18-08 10:28 PM

For my two-penneth i'm with Reece.

I think a ship that size would look better slipping under the waves in one piece.

Perhaps you could release the ship VonDos, and include, or add later, an alternate zones file for those that want to increase the chances of her breaking up?

I know i won't be disappointed if she stays together.

If i ever see her in game i'll probably be too busy looking at her to get a decent salvo off :)

As I said - just a suggestion, with no disrespect intended... I understand vondos must have worked hard on it, and I know firsthand how hard it is to design accurate shipping.

Oh I don't think anyone has taken your advise the wrong way!:D I for one am happy we have 2 great ship builders for this sim!:yep:
It's just that this is "the" ship that has probably had the biggest impact in history, so naturally everyone is puting in their 2 cents, you only have to look at how many pages to this thread, for a single ship, that's a lot of interest, and has a lot of people waiting for the launch!

VonDos 08-19-08 12:08 AM

Peace, mates ^_^
Advices and suggestions are always welcome :yep:
I've said and i will say always

Bow profile isn't so difficult to change, i've done something similar while converting from QM to QE; i'll try a small correction for a more historical correct ship :ping:

VonDos 08-19-08 05:09 PM

Voilą, reworked bow, and others textures improvements.

Bow wave is a little behind the right place, isn't it?

What do you think about this ship?

Steeltrap 08-19-08 06:11 PM

I think it's remarkable!! I'm sure you've got it right, so this is more a matter of my surprise, but I hadn't realised the funnels were quite so raked.

Oh, one other thing - re the 2nd picture: what is it with this ship and ice????

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Madox58 08-19-08 08:01 PM

Gotta have the Ice for the drinks Man!!
:yep:
Now where are those Tiny umbrellas?

Ruzbasan 08-19-08 08:49 PM

Absolutely gorgeous!

I await the release of her with excitement (and loaded forward tubes).:D

Cezbor 08-20-08 02:13 AM

Tons of gooood work VonDos:yep: . Eager to see that beauty in my scope.:smug:

Reece 08-20-08 03:32 AM

Looking very very nice VonDos,:yep: Almost ready for a launch!!
