The Dido looks small compared to the Java when i look at the screenshot.
|
Dido is less than 1m longer than the real Java.
|
Ok look at my sig. The Java looks more, i would i say it, beasty.

If i knew how i could alter/make a ship like the Java i will realy give all my time for it...but....i only know to use the mods and alter files. :o |
The German cruiser "Emden" would be a better substitute for "Java", but I don't know whether anybody has modelled this ship for SH3- I'll see if I can find anything on this. It won't be a perfect match, but better than an "Omaha" or "Dido".
|
Correctly said Gerrit.
I don`t think that the Emden has been made for sh3. But it`s almost a sistership of the java and sumatra. |
So far I haven't been able to find the "Emden" so I think I'll ask around if anybody has made her.............

But Emden would definetly be an improvement over the Dido.. |
Hey, my pick of Dido was simply because I thought she was better than Cleveland (used in the mod, post #1), not that Dido was perfect!

If I may be allowed to offer some constructive criticism......... the Dutch ML-KNIL aircraft such as the Buffalo, Hurricane and Glenn Martin bombers did not have orange triangles (or, later, the national flag markings) on the upper wing surfaces. Not 100% sure about the MLD aircraft but I think they didn't have them either. Will check and let you know. As for camo colours, the KNIL planes had upper surfaces in two shades of green, the USAF's Vietnam era greens are a perfect match for those shades.
The "Admiralen" destroyer looks pretty much like mine:D:up:, though I use shielded guns for A and Y positions. Using the "K" class cruiser, with all its shortcomings, at least gives "Java" something that resembles the thick foremast- much better than "Dido" or "Omaha". Pity nobody has made "Emden" yet....... |
It needs a SH4 set of texture maps though, looks very flat compared to SH4 ships, that's for sure.

Re the ML Hurricanes: they were on loan from the RAF and thus retained their RAF serial numbers and camouflage, which was either the temperate Dark Green/Dark Earth or Desert scheme of Mid Stone/Dark Earth (both schemes being used on the Singapore/NEI theatre Hurricanes). Roundels on upper wing surfaces and fuselage sides and the fin flashes were painted out with one of the two ML shades of green; the roundels on lower wing surfaces were overpainted with ML light grey.
The ML and MLD switched from the orange triangle nationality marking to the national flag as of 23/2/1942 following several "friendly fire" incidents where the triangle was mistaken for the Japanese Hinomaru. |

The flag is placed wrong.
Look at my sig. |
The flag looks ok to me. The Java class cruiser in your sig is at anchor. When a ship is in port or at anchor, she flys her ensign from the flag staff on the stern, as your sig shows. When she is at sea the ensign is flown from the gaff staff usually located on the main mast. Not sure if the Dutch Navy practices this but just about every other navy does.
