RTFM :rotfl: :rotfl: LOL

That Kiel plotting mod is from NYGM v.2.0 and originaly call "NYGM Kiel Canal navigation mod" but I can't find in GWX manual that explanation (maybe I'm blind).I'm not trying to critize but I think that should be in manual by original idea of NYGM team, or something like that. Some people didn't know for that maybe and probably think that excellent discovery of this is by GW team. Tell me if I'm wrong, maybe I can't find that in manual.

Yeah, what of this auto pilot? Is there such a beast we can use. I stay away from Kiel because of having to pilot the canal myself.:hmm:

Well, You should first do this: click on your navigator officer icon, then search pattern and then Kiel Outbound, You must do this when you start (when your sub is docked and not moving, because You only then have a precise plotting. Then You have to order speed and then again on navigator and select option return to the course.
Also when You return through the Kiel canal, you must be in 90 degree course to the last dot named in map (in GWX "Kiel canal inbound point), (in NYGM you must add x when you high zoom map on that place) and then again select navigation officer and search pattern and now "Kiel Inbound" option, and that's it. Enjoy in your trip. In NYGM manual v.2.0 is better described with picture, but the procedure is the same I described to You. I hope you will understand, because my English is not perfect.

Cool, I did not know this was there. I'll give it a try:up:. I would stay away from Kiel because of that canal navigation. I did it once and it just took to long for the eager captain.

If you use SH3 Commander mate you can even change the TC so you can go faster through the canal should you wish. Just click on options.

Yeppers, gramo works great!-- see my review thread. Wanting to see what the action was like, got tangled up with a convoy in low vis. Don't anyone do it!

Well, it is really not the fact of time but laying it out and hoping you are not heading into a object or something. So if it is layed out for me I can kick back and enjoy the trip on the conning tower. Furthermore, that is what my nav officer is for....that lazy bum. He is a drinker too:nope:

Are you runing with SH3 Commander?
Did you save your game submerged?
Did add a mod and not roll back commander first?
Did you save your game while in sight of a convoy?

Sailor Steve 12-21-06 11:30 AM

I've always laid my own waypoints through the Canal, long before there was an "auto-plot. I don't see why everyone is whining so much. Just lay out waypoints, use SHIII Commander to up the TC to 64 or even 128 near land and go for it. It's really not hard.

I reloaded the game the next evening and I found sonar completely useless. It wasn't working. Not for the guy sitting at it, not for me. It gave the sound, but it was not moving. Even the volume was blocked. Then I saw that all internal indicators all over the place were damaged. I've run a fast check of all the systems and everything was "functional".

I can't continue my patrol being deaf and with the storm in the surface. I tried to explain it to my character that it's a just a bad luck. The equipment fails sometimes.

Is it normal?

The hull damage percentage is just not displayed. You do have that option if you use 'SH3 Commander'.

Don't save while submerged or near convoys or near harbors. That can always cause problems, though I'm not sure if that's your problem. If you have to stop under those conditions, then Pause and minimize to desktop.

To say it all, I've printed it and had a hell of a good lecture at bed. Thanks again, gentlemen. ). It's really sweet how problematic a surface navigation is now during a storm. :)

Now the reason I'm going home with a mere single ship downed. The last time I was attacked by the RAF, I sustained damage. Have you tried quitting the game and reloading the mission ?
Just found this on the workshop

I don't use SH3 Commander, nor any other mod. I wasn't in sight of any convoy but it's possibile I save while submerged...

Thank you.

p.s. ehm, yeah, I reloaded the game twice, but to no avail. I had to back to the port and start another patrol.

My first GWX experiencies

Hello everybody!
This is my very fisrt post in subsim forums, and is an honor to me post in this thread.

I've played subisms since i have 6 years old's (my father lessons, Silent service c64, etc). I cant find a word in english to describe my emotions (Im form ARGENTINA... sorry for the bad use of words:oops: )

Im just a fresh user of GWX (download yesterday), and here are a few questions about:

1) There is any way to bring back the orange circle that marks the sub position when submerged in free view (yes... i know, REALISM... but is nice sometimes watch for pleasure...)

2) Sometimes the speech of crewman is changed of language (im using Engilsh voices, then, sometimes, a german voice speaks)... do you have made change of voices ONLY on German's ogg vorbis files?

3) The new AI for Destroyes is very, very, very GOOD! What is the amount of time that is requiered for the DD's to listen again after a drop of Depth Charges?

4) Nothing more for now.... only: "MENS LIKE YOU, DESERVE A IRON CROSS FOR THIS JOB"... (im just :D with the new "sharp-fresh-uboat-like" controls!!!!!)

Happy Holidays for everyone!!!

Yes, IIRC you can copy the Umark.tga file from another installation and put it into GWX.

It is suggested that you use German Voices with English text. This is the most complete set and will give the best immersion. Besides, after awhile you will get to learn a bit of german.

This is one of the biggest changes in GWX and I think your right, it .

Koranis 12-22-06 10:11 AM

Guys, only now I realized I've never been really good at this game. Now that it starts being played as it should.

I'm in a mess. I attacked a task force, sinking an Illustrious-class carrier (it's night, northern atlantic, 1939). By the way, I wet my pants when I saw it. The approaching, calculating e firing torpedoe and the following silent immersion were all heart-beating.

But now I'm the hunted. There are two destroyers above. I'm at 140 meters and can't shake those guys. I can fool their hydrophone, but once I think it's over and I'm safe they start to ping at me. And they find me. I cannot move in order to decrease the shadow, beacuse even at slower rate they hear me again. Yesterday I took 3 hours of beating. None depth charge really hit me, but it's always been close to do it.

Now those two are still above me. The situtaion didn't change and I really have no idea how to get out of it.

Any advice?

p.s. those bastards seem to collaborate. One is sitting behind me, listening, the other rushes towards me, drops the depth charges and then goes away. Then pings at the point where dropped them. What a ....ck! :)

gasparweb 12-22-06 10:23 AM

Hi Koranis1979,

nice moment ah?! I suggest you read the post:Bloody hell, this guy won't give up!, started by Camaero (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102449). That post contain very ussefull information.

Im reading post like that because something similar is hapening to me (pings, combintaned DD's movements, fear (my and my crew)... ).

May be, if you go Silent Runnig (if you not already are) and get far for at least 600m, then PD, then spend a torp, then prey, then Crash dive...

Good Luck commander, have nice waterhell
