weather

I can't seem to get this mod to work either. it doesn't appear to have any effect on my weather at the start of a patrol, or if I generate weather after a save during a patrol.
I noticed that I might save in, say January, but when I restart the patrol with SH Cmdr, I'm back in December. Is this the problem?

I had compiled the wrong version when I uploaded on friday. This version 1.01 works fine, and is now available at the link provided on the first page of this thread. Replace your previous version.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Not from the Weather standpoint. just that the weather values for the month you select will be the ones that are in the game. It won't hurt anything at all.

As to the SH3Cmdr time rollback, I understand that this is an issue with SH3 itself... I have found that I can avoid it happening by upgrading my boat AFTER my patrol, exit SH3 and then start the next patrol via SH3Commander. The date should advance normally.

Hmmm... Is there any way i can run this without it updating the campaign_rnd.mis file? Because that has been updated with the improved convoys mod and i would rather not overwrite it.

From the readme in the orginal post:

Quote:

generate random weather "realistically"
i.e. no more than 8 knots wind, no rain if there are no clouds, etc.
You mean that wind is now capped at 8 kts, and will vary from 0 to 8 kt? If thats the case i gotta try this mod out, i like 15 kt winds about as much as a tooth extraction with a rusty pair of pliers.

There is no overwritting of the files.... I manipulate the data directly. the only fileds in the file I touch are in the [MISSION] Section. Those values are:

Fog=
FogRand=
PrecipRand=
Precip=
Clouds=
CloudsRand=
WindRand=
WindHeading=
WindSpeed=
Interval=

So it will not and cannot affect any other settings you have in your MIS files.

Thus, it makes this programme compatible with any mod that has altered the MIS files.

Only for the start of the Patrol.. not the whole length of the patrol, once you have started, the rest is in SH3s hands, BUT, I do adjust the interval and rate of change values accordingly, So while you may still have 15m/s winds later on in the patrol, the likelyhood of them lasting for weeks is close to nill for most seasons.

It's working fine for me!

But I have a question about the usage:
Do you use the SH3 Weather Generator every time you start a patrol? Any problem in use it when you load a game at mid patrol?

Rubini.

Skweetis:
A problem, using 1.01, I have started 2 patrols tonight, both set to "User Defined Weather". For each patrol, I said to have a Partly Cloudy sky and each time, it gave me Clear sky. What do you think could be the problem ???

I can send you your weather log if you want.

Rubini.

It is only useful at the beginning of the patrol. Changing the values mid patrol (when you load a game for example), will update the MIS files, but no affect will be apparent in the patrol. At that point, when you load on patrol, SH3 reads the weather from somewhere in the save files, ignoring the settings in the MIS files.

Panama:

Yeah, email me the log at jamie (at) trux.com and Ill have a look. Ill double check the code as well. I've noticed that happen from time to time, but never figured out why... the log will help me track it down though..... i hope :)

weather

i have several mods that overwright the SH3's orginal campaign_
LND,_ RND, and _ SCR files. When the weather generator modifies these files, does it modify the files in my jsgme mod folder?
If it does not, is this the reason this mod won't work for me?

I forgot to mention that I am using SH3Cmdr 2.4. As a result, I wonder if this means that I have to "roll back" SH3Cmdr 2.4 before the first time I use the Weather Generator or before every time I use the Weather Generator since SH3Cmdr may be overriding any of the SH3Weather changes ???
