Regarding slowdown:

You must remember that doubling the view distance doesn't double the the amount of 3d space to render. It increases the amount to render exponentially.

This is sort of like how a 512*512 pixel texture takes up 4 times as much memory as a 256*256, but worse.

This is especially noticeable near land, where you'll also get lots of terrain to render and reflect, not just sea and ships. As well as increased harbour traffic, minefields, nets, and other miscelleanous items.

So basically, if you're on a weaker computer, there's little that can be done unless you want to get rid of the expanded view distance.

SUPERIOR!!! One stop shopping for virtually every improvement in the game. Now...if I could only incorporate Spy Satallite (if only for the time saving convenience of not wandering around blindly hoping to stumble on a convoy...unlike real life). Possible??? Anyway...Bravo Zulu...and thanks for the hard work.

Well, I'll include the updated world map with the convoy routes marked next version, which should help.

Or you could always just hang around AM52. ;)

Just out of curiosity, has anyone reported having a FPS slowdown while zoomed in on the navmap using this mod? It only happens when I've allready got data(target's course, etc.) and when I'm zoomed all the way in. I've got "God's eye" turned off in the options.

Did you try clearing your map of any navigational aids you may have drawn?

Yes, that usually clears it up, but it doesn't take much to drag it back down again. I never noticed this with the vanilla version.

Was just wondering if anyone else had reported this, or if it was just me.

oRGy 11-01-05 03:46 PM

Hm, strange. Perhaps the area you're near has lots of high traffic?

Or, since the Uboat is now drawn as a large (1024*1024) texture (re the direction rose around it), this could be causing slowdown.

On my system all is well - but then again I have an AMD 3200 and a GeForce 6600, so it should be.

I'm thinking it might be due to high traffic, but like I said, I have "no map updates" option set. I don't think it's with my pc specs as it drops from 100FPS to 2-3 FPS - although it may very well be the direction rose - When I'm zoomed in close enough to get the slowdown, I'm usually running a bearing line thru it.

@oRGy: Great mod! I hope this one isnt overlooked by many people owing to the popularity of other mods, especially of RUB.

I have been loath to use the newer versions of RUB and similar mods since I am never happy with all the changes so I usually just cannibalize them and put single files into my personal mod. This one however is to good to pass over! I was amazed to see what I have been missing. The Harbour traffic is not overdone like it used to be, the operations mod with all the new cities is just great, a german radiolog for the whole war, all new ships in one package etc etc ..

Now I will use IuB as my new base for mods ;-)

Some glitch observations:

- The Light Oil tanker appears twice in the museum
- The submark is still there (easy to fix tho)
- The "music-in-menu-but-not-in-game" would be a nice addition

Thanks to oRGy & all the guys who contributed to this!!

How do you fix this again? I read about it somewhere, but can't find it....

I thought I was the only one who noticed this!!! I pointed it out to my wife, and she thought I was crazy.....

It still cracks me up when I hear a movie or television show use the open/close door sounds from Daggerfall... :P

The file is:

\data\Misc\UMark.tga

just replace it with the one from RUB

oRGy- Great great work with the mod. I'm loving it.

But...I'm still having problems with the "black daytime sky of pestilence and doom". I'm running a GeForce Ti4600, and I've tried using the 81.85, 78.01, 77.77, and 77.72 drivers with no success.

I installed just IUB over a clean install of SH3 with JSGME and I'm loading it with SH3 Commander.

System specs:

PIII 1.4 ghz
MSI mobo
1 gig RAM
visiontek GeForce Ti4600 256
soundblaster live value

Anyone found a fix for this besides the video drivers?

1. Perform a rollback in SH3Cmdr.
2. Disable the Atmosphere mod in JSGME.
3. Re-enable the Atmosphere mod in JSGME.

This combination of steps "cleans" your SH3 files. And, as a number of people have already attested, it has worked for them with this and many other mods.

To avoid similar file problems with *any* mod in the future, ALWAYS rollback SH3Cmdr BEFORE installing/enabling new mods. Whilst usually not a problem, it is always a good habit to get into to ensure that you limit the potential for file clashes.

Also note that you can adjust water density via SH3Cmdr in conjunction with running this mod without causing side effects.

This could be the problem...

And if not, there is always the option of installing the 8km version of the atmospheric mod. Check this thread: http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopi...=44762&start=0
