Unbelievable work!
You should be very proud.

Amazing use of camera angles throughout, right from start, sweeping in over the water/harbour.
And that scene as the Bismarck emerges from amongst the iceburgs - nothing less than awesome.

Great job - two thumbs up!

Like I have in the credits - only those mods that are listed you see the effects of in the movie.

Thank you Avon Lady!

Ah ok, then i just never saw that before :)

I'm just curious, what mod did you use for the ENV stuff (sea and sky)? The standard sea has some serious problems, especially at night. If you're going to be making more movies (and I certainly hope so) you might want to check out some of the recent work done on sea and sky. My latest BeeryWater mod contains a very nice new night sky feature, as well as more realistic and atmospheric underwater visuals.

Is that a screenshot of the new water mod?

Beery 09-02-05 10:59 AM

Yeah. It shows how the sky is now lighter than the water (before, the water was luminescent at night, and much brighter than the sky). The sky is also more of a realistic deep blue colour (which I've seen on dark nights away from cities). The old sky was almost black.

Great movie! Specialy loved the scene where the ship comes out of the fog, I wonder how you made this:)

I don't know about above-water scenes, but as much as I love my own water config, I had to go back to the default water for when I worked with my movie, because murky water is actually difficult for compression purposes - that is, the contrasts are lower and the colours are, well, deeper, making it a bit problematic to compress.

I'd like to see a 'movie-friendly murky water' config sometime though, hmm :hmm:

Ive got a question for you type 941, how exactly did you do the opening shot skimming along the waves? The only camera movement i can do is from side to side and directly towards what im looking at, havent accomplshed diagonal yet. Plus, how were you able to keep the camera so smooth?

Airplane. And camera smooth - I'm not so sure, I think it's the weakest spot of the film, the intro bit, because the FPS drop with turning camera made it a bit jaggy. Not very satisfied but I tried filiming it more than once - same result. So i just left it. the point until it starts to turn left is ok, smooth and good framerate because it's fitted to the plane, but when I start moving mouse - it sees Bimsarck, the polycount shoots through the roof, and we have the jaggy effect, I appologise for it - my computer is simply too weak to render things better.

@ Beery - I will look forward for your water, but indeed, the modded water doesn't render well, the final sinking scene shows it well, underwater image gets 'lines' in kind of gradient fashion. For playing though, i found your original transparency too much. I want the stock one - i like seeing my sub.

I don't know what water I use, it's not stock but it's one of those that didn't work with JGSME and I replaced it forgetting about making a backup (and I still wish I can find the original - that Rapidsh*t link doesn't let me download). :arrgh!:

So i assume youve done some modding to the camera to look down from the plane? In that same vein, did you somehow remove that little invisible "no-camera" barrier around some of the ships?

yes, I use the mous to look down. and i use Follow the unit camera ( ,. buttons).

I don't understand the little invisible barrier bit? :88)

Wolf52 09-02-05 05:08 PM

Well you know, when you get too close to a ship the camera hits this little wall and if you keep moving towards the ship the camera will glide up and down along this barrier. Thought maybe you had disabled it for some of the closer shots.
