Yes I must add my thanks and appreciation to the guys ( and gals) who helped organise and run this third ( and biggest) subclub meeting ….. Menno, Drebbel, Dargo, Abraham and several others who I’m sure I’ve not mentioned . They picked us up/dropped us off from airports, posted up local knowledge , drove us round, helped us when we got lost, created info sheets for our visits, rearranged itineries to accommodate different wishes, sorted car lifts and generally ran themselves ragged so we could have a good time.

On the Dan D story … it seems he’s not the only one to asset strip poor Florin. When I got home I discovered Florin’s rather smart pen in my top pocket. I had forgotten I’d borrowed it one day to write down email addresses to help notify ppl when my photo gallery web page was up and running. So I too have a “trophy” from the executive producer of the greatest submarine sim ever developed.

Yeah, Abraham gave us a splendid tour of the reclaimed land and Arnem bridge--he even had some cool operation sheets with notes and facts! I was very impressed

Sixpack, we heard you had thought about attending, would have enjoyed meeting you, sir. :yep:

DeerHunter UK 10-02-05 05:15 AM

The tour was fantastic and the Dutch lads (and lasses) really went that extra mile for us.
Thanks 1 and all.

Yeah, may be a good idea to have a special section about Subsim meetings, with the stories and pictures linked to it. We'll build our own 'history' and the atmosphere that speaks from it might attract more subsimmers to attend the next time.
:D

Come on guys, this is supposed to be an international meeting!!!
I understand that Konovalov can't come, because Australia is really far away and the same goes for NZ Wanderer.

Actually I wasn't in Australia. I had moved to the UK by that time but I was actually in Paris on my honeymoon. I did suggest a possible detour of our honeymoon but Avon Lady got it right at the time of that suggestion by saying don't even dare. Avon Lady was right. When I mentioned it jokingly to my wife her response was, "Do you value your life?" I'll just have to wait for the next one I guess. Looking at the photos and so forth it looked like all had a great time. :)

For the next meeting how about a live SUBSIM Meeting cam for those of us that wish we were there. To boring, time consuming, technologically challenging? just a thought.

:hmm:

Drebbel 11-24-05 02:58 PM

I know it is a bit late but want to thank everyone that showed up at the meet for making it such a great meeting.

I, and I hope the others too, had a great time !

Of course very special thanks to BlueBeard and his Jolanda for putting up with so many crazy subsimmers from all over the world

Also to Neal for founding SubSim&SubClub, and last but not least to Sharkstooth&Panz for generating the first Intercontinental Meeting several years ago.

And if you could not make it this year then simply start planning now ! Tell your boss about it and put a few dollars aside every day

See You All Next Year !

:arrgh!:

Drebbel 12-18-05 02:28 PM

During the September meet we intended to show a couple of special interviews (WWII, uboot related), from a special DVD the Dutch Gang got their dirty hands on. :arrgh!: It is about 3 hrs of juicy and very interesting material.

But since we where also so busy having fun there was no need and intention to sit in front of the pc and watch a couple of hrs of interview.

So anyone that has attended the meeting, and wants to see the interviews, please send me a PM and I will send the DVD to you by snailmail.

Drebbel 12-24-05 06:30 PM

As promised in the fine print our patroness is busy decideing who will get the juicy prizes for the contest we did not held (guess we where too busy having a good time) during the Third Intercontinental SubSim&Subclub Meeting.

Names will be published in this thread in the coming weeks, whenever our patroness is ready for it.

There are four prizes:

Two SHIII Recognition Manuals, autographed by the "complete" dev-team.

Two copies of SHIII that have the manual autographed by the "complete" dev-team.

Prizes are courtesy of Florin Boitor, Executive Producer of Silent Hunter III, and the SHIII dev-team.

IN CASE YOU DID NOT ATTEND THE MEETING AND STILL WOULD LIKE TO GET AN AUTOGRAPHED RECOGNITION MANUAL OR AUTOGRAPHED COPY OF SHIII THEN SURF TO ----> CLICK HERE
