Node 334 - NCV_Shinano_Deck
Go to linked 3d model above the viewer and move the bottom texture up. Again. Another whacked Unit Notice the Unifiedrendercontroler is not parented to anything! |

In the early days of SH3 modding, things could not be removed from a file as easily as todays tools allow. Many Early Modder built Units had shrunken objects imported and moved to hide them. I suspect this Unit is based on one of those. |
Your suggestion to move that deck texture allowed it to display in s3d. I will compare what I see in Blender with what is in the Museum. If your idea about the history of the model is correct they should match.
|
You were completely correct, thanks. The Museum Model matches what is in S3D and Blender. If you move the camera inside the Shinano you can even see the parts that were moved into the center.

I'm pretty good at spotting issues.
:03: Over 10 years messing with the files will do that to ya. |

Great.
I have done 18 of the CVs and CVEs. There are just 7 CVE and CVS carriers left then they will be released. |
I have found another vessel that uses the same nearly-black hull as the W-19 Minesweeper...
NCVS_Yoshino It has the same black texture stretched over the hull in exactly the same way that the W-19 did. I suspect it is based on the same model. I will make a 100% black silhouette as a workaround until we can tear it down and find the issue. EDIT : Does this image help diagnose the issue? It appears to have a shadow of the hull superimposed across the texture. http://www.dcoffey.co.uk/images/sile...oshino_090.jpg |
On your w-19 files, I had to flip the faces to get it to show as normal.
Try it on this one also. |
Hmm... I already have. I am setting Flip Coordinate and Reverse Face Winding before exporting as OBJ to Blender.
Do you think I am looking at the model "inside out"? |
I exported the one above
with no checks in S3D On import to max I flip normals. I still have to flip them again after import. Both ships are from the same modder |
Actually you may be able to help me here with the left-hand / right/hand coordinate system too...
If I export from S3D with neither box checked as OBJ then when I Import the object into Blender the x-axis is mirrored. You can see it most clearly on the carriers since they are not symmetrical. Port and Starboard are mirrored. If I do check both boxes then the vessel is the correct symmetry and the X Y Z values are in the same order as S3D but the Y axis is negative. For example S3D has +X Starboard, +Y up, +Z forward but in Blender it is +X Starboard, negY up and +Z forward. It has been driving me mad! What transforms do you have to do in order to get the X, Y and Z in the same order as S3D and also in the same direction? |
I use Max which is +Z is up.
I set the import option to rotate the SH models to +Z up. I don't use Blender so don't know it's XYZ |
You were correct about flipping the face son those two dark models (or NOT flipping them if they were flipped already). Both W-19 and NCVS_Yoshino now display correctly.
Misc Pack 05 has been updated with a new Silhouette for W-19. |
