Hi Harmer
You may have installed the 9 patches but only 8 have been installed correctly. If your game was previous working by which I mean the game loaded to the main menu you should be able to do the following. Google Uplay Go to Uplay Home. Click on the download to install Uplay. This will probaby install a desktop shortcut. Open Uplay and look for My Games I can't remember but there will be options available which should you be able to see. Once you have found this you will be able to start your game and it will be updated. The next time you play you will be able to start from the SH5.exe Any previously working SH5 game will have created a Uplay account. Always make sure that after you install and update your game it can load to the game main menu. Peter |
New Patch Issues
I'm coming back to SH5 after a few years, and am affected by the Uplay update as well.
I did a fresh Uplay install using "The Wolves of Steel 2.2_SH5 Expansion Pack_v2.2.16_uPlay_Test.exe" Patch. During the patch I get the following error. https://i.imgur.com/oKLXtgum.jpg When starting a new campaign, the game CtDs. So for me at least, the WoS Test patch isn't working. Going to see if I can still find my SH5 DVD. |
Hi,
I have the same problems with uplay. BUT i reinstalled my Uplay Version AND disabled the automatic update checkbox. After i started the fresh game, the version of the game was 1.2.0. --> So I installed the standart WoS modpack (not the test) and the everything worked until i start a new career, go to the museum or load a saved game. PS: when i want to start the game from the sh5 folder from the sh5.exe, uplay asks me for the code either. |

Ahoy Kaleuns,
Finally found this thread. I just got SH5 and wanted to try it out with TWOS. Unfortunately I got the Uplay Version and getting the same "different version" error in the Generic Patcher. I thought it was my fault and also tried different solutions. Nothing worked. The download links for the Test Installer are down and now I will just have to stick with the stock version and wait for a solution.:wah: Happy Hunting! :Kaleun_Salute: |

EDIT: I think it's time for someone to open a warning thread for people not to buy uplay download version of SH5. It seems that we have pretty much the same situation like we had with steam before. We can only hope that this ubisoft nonsense won't spread on other SH5 versions as well... |

But when I try to load a game, a tutorial, the museum or want to start a new career, the loadingscreen apears and after 2 minutes the game closes. No problems with the patcher. |

If this is all being done in the same game load IIRC going in and out of these can cause problems? I would be interested to know if you can start a stock game and start a career? If your game loads to the main menu that would appear not to be a Uplay problem. |

Hi Vecko
Do you think this is a game installation problem? Has the SH5 saved game folder been setup? Uplay does its job in loading the game. The problem arises when making a selection from the main menu. The Uplay download uses a different SH5.exe to the DVD and STEAM download. With the patcher error there are some 43 responses needed to be made I wonder if if the return key is being pressed to quickly accepting the patch and its causing a corruption? Peter |

Right now I have no idea what is the problem. I need some experienced SH5 captain who owns Uplay download SH5 to talk with him because we are getting to many contradictory informations in several recent threads connected to this issue... |
Can UPlay be installed outside of the Program Files folders? I have a UPlay SH4, and I have it and the SH4 game, as well as my SHIII and SH5 Steam games installed in the same C:\Ubisoft folder, and I have received a UPlay update, but do not have issues. Does the SH5 UPlay game require the UPlay to be in a Program Files folder? How many folks with issues have UPlay in the Program Files folder?... :salute:

@vdr1981
Taff has recently released a youtube SH5 vid and explains the following: 1. After some 10 years or so, Ubisoft have decided to patch SH5 for some unknown reason. 2. The vanilla version of the game (patched to 1.2.0) works fine, however TWoS mod is no longer compatible with SH5 downloaded from Ubisoft. 3. If you have the original DVD version, then when patched to 1.2.0, TWoS mod is compatible with that process. 4. Those with no access to the original DVD can only play the vanilla version of the game at present. So, I guess vdr1981 would really need to know what the nature of this recent patch has been? See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtdarF2_T78 |
Just returned from silent running for a while and my game crashes also.
The information i had to add is that i run a older Version of TWOS (since i didnt update any Mods so far) which is v2.2.9 Dunno if this helps to find the root cause but maybe you can at least ignore the latest changes. |
