TAKE THAT LAZY AMERICA!

Better try harder if you want to be a Ranger you will need to run 5 miles in at maximum 40 minutes that's after you did 49 or more real and not mamby pamby push ups in 2 minutes 59 or more situps in 2 minutes and 6 or more real chin ups in 2 minutes. All this during hellish training where you get next to no sleep enough food to keep you alive and unrelenting physiological punishment.Only the ones that truly have it in them will make it.

On top of all of this the Ranger instructors can consider any violation as a failure but you will not know that you passed or failed until the very end of the training imagine having that extra pressure on top of you and everyone makes a mistake or two during Ranger training. You also get evaluated by your peers if you do not make the grade with your peers you will also fail.

If you really want to be a Ranger you had better start training your body now.In all honesty if you have ever given up on anything in your life you most likely will not pass Ranger training.Ranger training is very challenging and they unlike other Special Forces will be deployed to combat as soon as they complete Ranger school.SEALs and Pararescue other SF those guys usually have two even three years of additional training before they are combat ready.Rangers face the thick of it right away SEALs get all the Hollywood glory but Ranger School and Marine Recon School they are every bit as challenging as BUDs.And then you have DELTA those guys have to first be Rangers and then be Green Berets before they can become DELTA and that school is by invitation only.

Pararescue those guys must also go through Ranger training in addition to their specialization their motto is "That Others May live" if you do not truly have it in you to sacrifice your life to save others you'll never make into Pararescue.A friend from the USAF he wanted to be a PJ so he trained for 4 years before he applied he only slept two hours a night the remainder of his time off duty was spent training.

The kind of push up I do has four counts and two reps and that is one push up and I was never a Ranger nor a PJ.Very few people that try getting into an elite force at the start of thier military career make it but some do make it.

I am not trying to burst your bubble I'm just saying each minute that you spend messing around thinking about 'Merica is time that you could spend preparing yourself for your life after high school.Food for thought.

You seem to admire people of action you should have posted how disgusted you where in running an 6:18 mile and how you should do better.Maybe you need to have that man in the power chair that you posted on the first page chasing you down thinking that you are giant slice of hickory smoked bacon.

What was your mile time today?

Stealhead 05-08-13 08:08 PM

I did not run one today.Usually I run 2 miles three times a week if I push myself I do it in 13:00 and if I am lazy it might take me around 20:00.

What is your deal? He says that he wants to be a Ranger I am just giving him some motivation. If he really wants to do any of those things he will have to put a massive amount of effort into it.

And he's what, 15, something like that? He's totally going to Ranger training tomorrow. He did something good today. He's proud of himself, no need to go and piss in his cereal. Looks from here like you were just trying to score some easy points off a kid. That's my deal.

You're not his personal trainer. Let the kid have his victory. Sheesh.

Well you read me the wrong way not a big deal though being understood by someone like you is not even on my radar screen just to clear up any possible future misunderstandings.

I dislike this thread.

I will again save my opinion about you. However, it does demonstrate a certain lack of maturity on your part that you are unable to see why what you did wasn't cool.

EDIT: And to topic, Congratulations RedOctober. That was a good time you ran. The sky is not falling and you do not have to be able to run a 4 minute mile by Friday.

Tak. It's okay. You can take a chill pill.

I know that Ranger training is extremely difficult. I've watched it on the military channel tons of times. Stealhead is just putting a bit of the real world into my thinking.

If you've read my other GT posts, you may know that I want to fly in the Air Force. Well, I know that there's a slim chance that I'll be able to do exactly what I want at this point. I had thought about being a Ranger last year. It's something I'd be interested in if the flying doesn't work out for me. I've got my best friend trying to convince me to be a Missouri State Trooper with him. He says that when the country needs us we can go. He's not too excited about a military career. I'd happily consider any other military job... At this point, I think that ROTC is going to be my best path since I can go to college and get a degree that way. My only concern is budget cuts. My dad did Army ROTC in something like '89-'90. He got through Jump School and Artillery School and stuff...but...at the end, they didn't have a slot for him. This was when the Berlin Wall came down and the Soviet Union was dissolving. All these budget cuts are going to hamper me getting a job where I want in the military. I appreciate Stealhead trying to give me motivation and guidance. I really have not completely decided what I want to do yet. I want to try for a flying job...but I just don't know...

I don't have to join the military immediately after high school. I have some time to decide. I want to go to college and get a degree that I can use after the military. ROTC sounds good to me but I just don't know.

We can all calm down here...okay?! I wish my mile was a little better.... Hell, I wish I could do a lot of things better...but arguing about what I can and can't do on the internet is just a bit of a waste.

I'm out of things to say. I'll leave it there. I have more current things to worry about at this point in time.

I appreciate that you stood up for me...but it's okay. However, I don't want you to take my side simply because you do not like Stealhead.

I don't want to turn this into another violent GT Thread.

Let's start back with these....

I don't dislike Stealhead. I just didn't think what he did was very nice. But, I am glad that you weren't offended. In the end that is all that matters.

Because knowing where you are from makes it easier for me to categorize you and not treat you as a person or take anything you say seriously, you tree-dwelling, wife beating, maniacally stabbing, moonshine making, funnily speaking, violently hockey playing drunkard. :know:

(And don't get me even started on stereotypes if I happened to remember from which part of Finland you are from.)
