I know nothing about multiplayer, never tried it, sorry.
And the meat is probably all well smoked, salted or cured. It's how we preserved it before refrigeration was invented ;) But I've read in books that a few weeks into a patrol the food did start to grow a mouldy residue on the outside that the cook would have to cut away. :o As to the lack of shipping? CA29, never been there. Isn't that over on the Eastern Seaboard of the US? I'd be surprised if you sailed all the way there and back without seeing a single thing. Not even an aircraft? Did you get any contact reports on the map? Either single ships or convoys? Just to be sure, could you post a list of the mods you have enabled using JSGME. A screenshot of JSGME would be super if you could do that. |

Is there anyway of maybe re-enabling my game to show my saves again and why would this have happened anyway? Oh and I never got any contact reports on the map? No single ships or convoys, there was just the sea and the sky, all the way to CA29 and back, though if I remember correctly CA29 was near New york. anyway here is the screenshot of my mod enabler as requested. http://img220.imageshack.us/i/genericmodenabler.jpg/ thanks |
I can see the problem right off.
You still have the Black Sea Campaign enabled. Which means there will be no traffic anywhere other than in the Black Sea. Disable it and start your career again. And to dock, after you have hit ESC, which pauses the game, you should see an option somewhere that says 'Dock at wherever' (eg. Kiel, Brest etc). (Or it might say 'End patrol', I can't remember at the moment) As for the game freezing when you take a screenshot, yeah that happens to me as well. I think it's something to do with the resolution fix I'm running, but I'm not 100% sure about that. If I hit the printscreen key, it tries to make a video. The game appears to lock up, then crashes, and I'll find about a dozen or so almost identical images in my game directory. I got around the problem by using a third party screenshot application. Good luck  |

I won't be using that screenshot program again I know that much lol. Thanks again :salute: |
Hey,
Thought I'd add my 2d, since I was in a similar situation to OP. I played a lot of stock Silent Hunter a year or so ago, but I've only just reinstalled it... after reading a bit about GWX I thought I'd give it a go. Having just finished my first patrol I thought I'd add my thoughts for what they're worth. First off... it's a brilliant mod. Really, really brilliant. Completely transforms the game, and I'm kinda sorry I wasn't using it back in the day. That said (and only personally speaking) I'd still play vanilla SH3 until you get a feel for the game. Do God's Eye map-updates, automatic targeting and fairly low realism until you're confident setting up an attack on a convey, wiping out half the merchants and slinking away without much chance of being sunk. To be honest, I don't think that should take more than a few patrols. I'd say install GWX as soon as it starts to tinge a tiny bit boring. A few things I really liked... I loved all the extra activity in the harbour, even if it meant not being able to rocket out at high time compression. I loved the band that saw me off, and I especially loved them rocking up at 2320 when I got back. Presumably the pubs had just kicked out... I also like the random stuff I saw. Not sure if it was part of the game or a bug, but I found a Dutch tugboat and an unflagged freighter with searchlights, completely motionless in the middle of the North sea. Another strange one was merchant ships that seemed to shadow me... couldn't sink them because the war hadn't started, but hopefully the captains will still be that stupid in September. The weather was also much more believable and the graphics much improved. Really made the whole thing more immersive. Manual targeting and plotting, while a bit baffling at first, is really not too difficult, if you follow the excellent advice on this forum, and it makes the whole thing a damn sight more interesting. Anyways. That's what I reckon. |

Saw this and thought...... you gotta be a Brit, whatever happened to the 24 hours we was promised ? :har: Best regards. Fubar2Niner |

So we stuck a tugboat there to help prevent you experiencing a collision. BTW...the lightships being environmental objects are indestructible. Pleased to learn you are enjoying the GWXperience. |

Fubar,
Very true... in some ways it's worse, because it's gotten rid of the illicit joy of a good lock-in. Some pubs stay open to maybe midnight, but it's never the good ones. Jim, Ah, that makes sense... I can see a lot of thought has gone into this! |
