Thats true, our line of kings come from a mediocre french general. Napoleon gav his go-ahead to Bernadotte becoming the new swedish king on the condition that he would'nt ever start war with france. Bernadotte said a diplomatic version of "up yours" and later did. But he's not our ruler, more like advertisement and a link with history :woot:

There are many english myths about france, manly I think because they historically always was there main adversary and england won. But there was
a time when napolenons armies were unstoppable and all of europe had to
confront france to stop him, kinda like hitler a bit - without the sinister stuf.
...and napoleon was not short by comparison to the general public - thats another english propaganda-myth.

Napoleon was unstoppable by a single nation, which is why a great number of European nations banded together to defeat him, but we are talking about just under 200 years ago.

If you think the Brits are rude about the French you should hear what we say about the Italians!

ReFaN 03-08-10 03:21 PM

only reason why Napoleon was so sucsesfull was because he was not a real frenchmen, he was Corsican!

On the matter of the french, looking at www.subsim.com I had a laugh today and I actually belived it for a second. But then :

English-speaking newsagencies could'nt let France take all the glory, that might even earn them some respect haha.
Vive la france. As the post said said:
"they are kicking ass and taking names" :yeah:

I remember when the french would not let us fly through their airspace to do an airstrike on Libya and Momar Kadafi. Also as an American, if it wasn’t for the french back in the revolutionary war we would all be speaking English today. Oh wait! We speak English anyway. :O:

Look up French Military Victories on Google and then hit the "feeling lucky" button.....(Just keep the French away from it though. It is a bit insulting...).

I actually wasted my time reading both pages. :har:

A friend of mine has SH5 and I was looking at it a little while ago. I will not give my opinion on it because I haven't played it.

However - I think I found an easter egg of sorts. Perhaps someone can confirm what I think I saw.

On a loading screen (I think he was loading initially) it gave him a transition screen that had two subs in it. The one in the foreground looked to be a VII, but the one in tha back - or "beside" the other sub - was longer and the conning tower was shaped identically to the XXI in SH3. So technically speaking - a Type XXI was spotted "in" SH5. Can someone who has the game and thus sees the screens confirm this?

I am trying to get him to let me play it some this weekend. He wants a couple of mods so I may trade some game time for making them - because I have to be able to use his game to test them, right! :yeah:

Yea it definately is a XXI next to it in the picture, all I'm gonna say about this game is that its gonna take a miracle from the subsim guys to make it better. It would be sweet if they fixed it enough to run like the previous ones, and add boats in like SH4s U-boat missions did.

French surrender

Sorry to continue the derail but this is too much fun.

The French Ministry of Defense this morning announced that a French Navy destroyer, the FS Ouragan (Hurricane), surrendered to Somali pirates after a small outboard motor powered speed boat came alongside and fired a pistol towards the command bridge.
